I’m 90% decided on my next car:

Good points = great cruiser 1500-2000rpm at 100kmh, lots of torque low down, seats 5, automatic, stability control (maybe), curtain airbags (maybe), it can tow 2300kg, engine over twice as big, power almost twice as much, great in a straight line, turbo, cheapish.

Bad points = horribly flat seats and no foot rest, engine sounds strained >6000rpm, weird DBW throttle calibration (too much too soon), chews through petrol, maybe poor build quality (crosses fingers), very poor resale, no locking fuel cap (WTF!), 650kg heavier than a DC2R and “handles” like a cargo tanker in high waves.

Yes. It’s just what a reborn Aussie bogan has to get around in, it'll hopefully be a Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo automatic

The good news is that I’ve got space to keep my DC2R as well. So after I’ve finished bagging “Jap tin crap 4-bangers that can’t crack 14 sec quarter miles” with my mates I can sneak it out whenever I want to enjoy driving. It’ll be capable of towing a race car (an old Datsun) and the trailer will be able to accommodate the Integra as well.

My DC2R isn’t going anywhere soon and as long as I have the space I’ll just keep on acquiring more cars to supplement it’s good qualities.

    Honda DC2R Integra

If I change the nut behind the wheel then my sloppy lines improve and I can get some consistency to sort out my iffy handling, my worrying lack of braking ability goes away, after that I can start fretting about my suspicious lack of straight line grunt.

I know there is nothing out there that has the presence of a GTR but you gotta ask yourself would you want to buy a 10 year old car for 50k plus?

A 10 year old car will gaurantee to come with problems and GTR parts are very expensive not to mention the car itself will chew up fuel like no tommorrow.

Performance wise a newer car like an evo9 which will be problem free (and if there is there is still warranty) will be easily able to keep up with a BNR34 (stock for stock).

I know at the end of the day its a GTR and if you have the money to jump into this moss pit then by all means.

Thats bullshit about a 10 year old car gauranteeing problems.. I had an 11 year old R33 gts-t that was sweet as.. The Rb motors and gtr running gear is probably the strongest out of the awd turbo bunch!!

R34 GT-R is good car but too expensive and running cost can be high, for that money EVO 9 or 8MR would do same job. I think if I want to spend between $50K-100K I'll go for BMW 335 or E46M3, but most likely 335, great engine and you can get one for around 70-80K, spend 10K on it and you got weapon that has killer performance, isn't old, has looks and is good for track and street driving, and is pretty ecomnomical if driven normaly (under 10l on 100km), I'll prob wait for two years than try to get C63 for around 100K or get 335 and do some mods.

I think having anything with a 1jz or 2jz turbo would be fun. maybe a chaser tourer V, Soarer or Supra.

R32 golf very good car but not much performance, maybe if modded but stock it's simular to DC2R, you better wait and get new golf VI R36, same engine as passat R36, should have killer performance

There's no such thing. Golf VI will not use the inline V6 at all. The speculated new R line car is the GTI-R, a 204kW 4Motion 4 cylinder turbo. Basically a Golf version of the S3 with a little more power. Emission laws are becoming much tougher for large capacity engines. Having a turbocharged 4 gives the car a better EU rating.

Amazing huh? Especially for a car that sells for $64,990 brand new.

An RS4 is $134,990 brand new. A two year old example sells for around the $100k mark. Quite normal depreciation for a car with a large LCT component.

I'd take a 4G63 CE-CT series Lancer over any RB Nissan for longevity. I've seen many abused Evo VI Lancers continually cop punishment in their stride.

Hmm I heard different, we'll see, I'm not saying you wrong or I'm right it's just different to what I heard, anyway GTI-R sounds pretty good to me

I assure you it won't happen. There was a test mule with a 3.6 in it close to two ago. It was speculated that this generation was going to receive the larger engine. In the end it turned out they were clocking miles on the engine for the R36 Passat.

Scirocco is also a definite no go for Australia too.
