hey guys.. just an update and suggestion needed...
my car is now being towed to my smash repairer... they will be fixing the whole car including the electronic side of it... my problem is tat i didnt insure my sound system and my mods (ECU and gearknob) so obviously they will somewhat replace it with OEM? but i do want to get aftermarket ecu and gearknob which i had and was taken off me... is there a way for the workshop to do this??
as im not too sure what the procedure for the workshop to charge the insurance... but is it possible??? really appreciate it if someone with the experience could help me out with this... cheers guys...
oh... sorry for not explaining it properly... wat i meant is... claiming the aftermarket gearknob and ecu under insurance... so instead of getting the oem knob and ecu... the workshop get the aftermarket mods for the car... sounds dodgy i know...
I'm sure the stock Honda ECU that's been out of production for quite a while now would cost a bomb when bought new from Honda and would be financially better for the insurance company to pay for something like an aftermarket PFC or a Hondata S300.
Best advice is to speak to your repairer and explain to them the situation. In most cases, the workshop doing the repairs are usually more than happy to work out a deal with you. Maybe give Honda a call to find out the price on the B18C7 ECU and use that as a negotiation point as to what the repairer should be using.
