EL - you *had* to buy a new car due to lease or whatever, so you had no chance to buy the R...
that is bad luck.
but the fact is that the R and the S are fundamentally different, despite the many similarities.
and you got that fundamental difference in one - the "red H" philosophy!
with the DC5 series - Honda Australia decided (or Honda Japan decided) to not market the "true R" in Australia.
they went soft with the DC5R and even softer with the DC5S...
shame on Honda.... retired/

The K20Z1 has JDM intake cams...that is troof...Hondata USA says so
Personal choice between the two cars...
You won't notice the lack of an LSD until you're on the limit...but it's only on acceleration anyway.
I have contemplated this debate of either the R or the S I should buy, but the main reason why I went with an S is because factory warranty...
I don't plan to so much track work, and I know DC5 are prone to braking engine mounts...

some good points here. When i had my AUDM DC5R, i loved the car to bits. Enjoyed driving it everyday and loved the occassional spirited (but sensible) drives. I sold it because i was silly thinking i would find it hard to sell if it got anymore k's on it.
I had an R34 GTT and everyday owning it i missed my R. This year i had my heart set on buying an NB AUDM DC5R although could not find one with low k's and decent price.
I went to a dealer and sat in the AUDM DC5S and it felt far more modern and i wont have to be as careful with keeping the seats in good nick. I wanted to feel "pimped up" as well with a sunroof. Also after a test drive it felt slightly more 'torqy' then my previous R which was slightly modded (my own opinion).
Love both cars though: Love the R's recaros, heavier steering wheel, wing, sound with Injen K (love that whizzing sound) and bodykit. Love the S's leather seats (could be more buckety though), wheels, lights (front and rear), sunroof and power down low. Basically i went for the better deal and newer car with warranty although i would have been happy with either of the two.
