i just got myself a psp... been hunting them for a whole day... lol... all over chatswood...

anyways... just wondering if anyone of you own one and if you have any hints or tips or goodies to share...

EB was on sale... 50% off all games... and stuff...

psp is pretty nifty. can connect to wireless. So many games and movies for psp as well

If you bought one running firmware 2.71 or less, you can play backed up games via the memory stick by upgrading to custom firmware. I've got 117 games "backed up"

get yourself a copy of GTA, and downgrade your firmware to enjoy downloaded games

get yourself a 2gb MS stick duo, they are cheap now and come very handy when wanting to watch movies off them

^yes, you need to get GTA game to downgrade or you have to get it chipped

firmware downgrades only work upto version 3.03 anything higher than this is not possible 'at the moment' unless you chip it

if you have a copy of GTA LCA, it must be an 'unpatched' version to help you downgrade to 1.50

i've recently downgraded mine from 3.03 to 1.50 and upgraded upto 3.40oe-a (open edition / custom firmware)

im actually playing with a homebrew gps program 'mapthis!' with the psp gps device (psp-290) quite interesting

i returned my psp today cos it had a dead pixel on it... and now... its flawless... cept tat... its running firmware 2.71... and the motherboard is TA-082... which i search on the net tat its not possible to downgrade or else its gonna turn into a brick!

damn man!!! but just then... i found out on wikipedia... it says tat TA-082 can be downgraded too.... and im not sure if i wanna take the risk... im still confused... *sigh* can someone clarify this for me pls?? at the back of the psp where u insert the umd disk... it says "IC1001" and apparently its not downgradable...

This was released on 27 December 2006 by Dark_AleX, harleyg and Mathieulh and is similar to the 2.71 downgrader. This downgrader allowed the installation of 1.50 on TA-082 motherboards with 2.71 already installed was released. Previously, this was impossible due to an incompatibility with some IDstorage keys, attempting to write it would brick the PSP

i just ordered myself a 4gb memory...
