I agree with all thats been said above.

Unless if you get a good example of an S2K, be prepared for a lot more on that to go wrong than the DC5 - clutch/gearbox/diff in particular.

The DC5R is a very livable daily driver; huge boot, not as loud, quite roomy inside and able to carry 3 passengers.

PM me if you want to meet up with us for a look at a modded DC5R this weekend if that'll help your decision.

          stock

          dc2r > dc5r

I own both the dc2R and the dc5R, having modified both extensively, I would pick the dc2 over the dc5 any and every day of the week. The k20a engine is a great engine, but that alone is not going to make the dc5 the better choice. The suspension and handling of the dc5 is tricky to setup, once its setup, small changes in sway bar, height, chassis and tyres (even tyre pressure) really affect it, and I've never been as comfortable on the limit of the 5 as I have been on the 2.

The 2 is the drivers car.

I reakon look at getting a DC2. I went through the same process as you mate. Hated the feel of the DC5R, and hence didn't go for it. They were way too soft IMO, and parts to get it more hardcore were more exxy. So the DC2 was the best for me. The engine being rawer, and the steering feel more responsive... lighter car. Everything felt perfect!

I also prefer the DC2R interior to the cheap plastic looking DC5R. And the seats are made fo fat people.

I disagree RE the interior and the seats...the DC5R recaros are not made for fat people...I've been in both long enough to say that I prefer the DC5R ones over the DC2Rs...and I'm the skinniest guy on CITR I also probably have the lowest BMI and body fat on CITR too

I much prefer the interior of the DC5 as the DC2's one looks too outdated...sorry to say but that interior has been there ever since what? 1993?

the Dc5 recaro are more comfortable..

i wouldent quite say it was made for fat people.

dc2 is in general more RAW.. in its racing feel. Dc5 has some very nice comfort features though

i myself prefer the Dc5 seats as well.. just on feel.

but S2k FTW if you can afford it especially if you already like the drive of the s2k..

Yeah I find them (DC5 seats) more confortable... but don't hold me in. They feel 'bigger' than DC2R seats. I fly everywhere. LOL. opposed to DC2 seats which hold me in

just sell them and upgrade to aftermarket. go the s2k they are hot. But in the end we can't convince you, its how you drive and what appeals to you.

                            Drive both.

Buy the car you enjoy driving.

                            Simple.

Sorry, for no reply for a while.

Thanks for all the info, really.

The replies pertaining to the substantial changes in feel between a stock and a lightly modified dc5 are what i am looking for as i am intending on modding (I/H/E + Swaybars and suspension).

To answer your initial questions, would prefer a dc5 as - newer and cheaper to insure, looks hot, k series. The DC2 ITR whilst being a great car to drive feels a bit dated in both interior and exterior styling. The fact i have owned a dc2 for the past 2.5 years means that now, presented with the possibility of upgrading would prefer a different, hopefully better driving experience.

S2k would stretch the budget (25-32K) greatly in order to find one in good condition and it is also probably not the most practical choice.

I am in Melb, so if anyone can possibly take me for a spin that would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately its not such a simple buy what you like to drive equation.

LOL, you didn't need convincing then.

You've made up your mine already la!!

                                DC5R FTW!!
