here's some info on the next season...
In a recent interview with E! Online Tim Kring said: "There are plans to
add one new, one big character next season." He also stated that the
"Heroes" that remain are likely to stick around, because he's changed his
MO. "I thought Heroes was going to have an ever-shifting cast," he says,
"but the cast hit in such big ways that now the challenge is to figure out
how to use them all and still fold in a couple of new people, because I
still think that the origin stories are the most fascinating, in some
ways." [5] Masi Oka, who portrays Hiro Nakamura, recently said in an
interview with Sci-Fi Wire, "I think it’s great the way the finale ends…
It’s a wrapping up of volume one, which is called ‘Genesis.’ And it wraps
up the whole bomb storyline. So it’s a nice finale, and there’s a great
cliffhanger with everybody, I would say. And you do get to see a little bit
of volume two, which is called ‘Generations.’" [6]. Tim Kring also revealed
that although he plans to keep most of the "surviving cast" with the
addition of a couple of new faces, Season 2 will start off with the
heritage and lineage of some of the major heroes families, including the
first generation of heroes (Mr. Linderman, the Petrelli Family, Charles
Deveaux, and Kaito Nakamura, among others.)[7] This season will have a
total of 24 episodes.
and here's some info on the spinoff series, origins...
Heroes: Origins is an upcoming American science fiction drama television
series, a spinoff of NBC's hit show Heroes. Heroes: Origins will introduce
one new character per episode, and viewers will choose which character will
join the main cast at the end of the run. The second season of Heroes and
the first season of Heroes: Origins will include a total of 30
episodes.[1][2]
The reason given for the spin-off was to remove the mid-season hiatus,
which caused the ratings to falter when Heroes returned in Season 1.[2]
"We've got something I call the 'bulk-up challenge' for next year, which is
trying to stay more consistent in our scheduling for the audience," NBC
chief Kevin Reilly told reporters Monday (5/14) at a press conference
announcing the network's 2007-08 schedule. "We asked ['Heroes' creator] Tim
Kring to come up with an idea, and what I love is not only did we bulk up
with 30 hours next season, but also a whole new idea which I think is going
to take the show to the next level." While not all scheduling details have
been hashed out, Reilly says, "I'll tell you one thing you won't see is
'Origins' peppered throughout, I think that would be difficult for the
audience to navigate."
