There is may ways. Not sure on accuracy. You can find info on the pinch test through google. Where your measure fat at curtain points of the body.
Scales only give a very ruff BF%. Picture chart - very inaccurate.

Scales aren't very accurate either. Scales send an electric current through the feet and measure the resistance from one foot to the other to get a measurement. The problem with this is how electricity works - it will go from point to point. Therefore, it only travels from foot to foot, so, you'll get a reading based on your body fat % and water % from your feet, legs and hips. If you're predisposed to having fat (or having lean) legs, it won't give an accurate reading of your total figures.
The picture chart Karl is referring to is, I think, the DEXA scan - the most accurate measurement you can get and is probably the most expensive.
