    [SYD] Slamfest 2012 - Saturday 21st January 2012 (car show/street meet)

Im not in any way involved in this but just wanna know if anyone else from here is going? I have already submitted the entry form.

Copied from JDMST Thread : http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/show...t-January-2012

Some of you may previous know the crew from Nightshift Events with their previous run of shows back in 2005/2006. Since then, they have established a new team behind him (myself included) to organise a new style of events for the import tuner scene. With Autosalon no longer running, this has left a hole in shows/meetups for the guys involved in the Euro Style/JDM/Sexpec scenes.

This is simply an organised street meet event. Its going back to the grass roots style events where people can come, park their cars up, socialise and enjoy the atmosphere. Registrations will available in the coming days in which you will need to pre-register if you wish to come down and enjoy the night.

Let me state that this is simply a starting point for us. We are working on a much larger event for late Feb/early March which will combine Drag Racing, Drifting and Display into 1 event.

I will continue to update information as it comes to hand with this event. But i can assure you, this has been planned properly. We got approval from local council and authorities for the venue. Its all legit. Any further questions, please feel free to ask.

We hope there is a large JDM presence there on the night. We want to make this a good event. If this goes well, then more events will follow from this.

    Date: Saturday 21st January 2012
    Time: 5pm until late
Location: Blacktown Rail Carpark, - Roof Top Level, First Avenue, Blacktown, NSW

        Hey guys.

I have nothing to do with the event but since it's a charity meet with proceeds going to RUOK; a great cause which deals with depression, mental illnesses and runs parallel with the work of Cars For Hope, I was wondering if anyone here on ClubITR would be interested in attending this day?

I know there are a few of you who support Cars For Hope here on ClubITR and I thought it would be a nice gesture to have your presence at this meet.

I am happy to organise a pre-meetup so we can all gather together, cruise to the meet as a group and park together. I'll have heaps of CFH stickers on me so we can all represent if you don't already have one.

There's not much time till the meet so let me know what you guys think.

        Thanks,

        Berty

                      • Anytime after 5pm you can get in. If you want to park with friends, please arrive together. We will not be able to save spots for people. We have spots reserved for clubs who have spoken to us directly on the top level as that they are bringing 10+ cars.
should we do this as well? depends on how many of us are going i guess..

Please note that the Event on the 21st of Jan has been postponed due by order by the Sergeant Samcou Blacktown Police, They believe the amount of entries and response far outweigh the locations capacity and traffic control to maintain an orderly event.
They believe all 1200 invited followers will be attending even we clearly told them that we only have 200 registered entries only so far. We also expressed we would be ceasing pre-registration as of Friday 20th Jan 2012 to assure our numbers wouldn’t exceed 250 on the night when the carpark in question has the capacity of 489. We took this matter as far as we could, speaking with higher officials and due to the timeframe, they were unable to assist. However, they have expressed interest in helping us in the future given enough notice.

When we approached the council about the event, they explained to us everything we had to do to get this running. We followed all advice given. We informed the authorities about this, who were at first ok with us running this. It was only when they followed it up on Wednesday 18th Jan 2012, they started expressing concerns.

We desperately tried to work with every avenue with them but they firmly believe the security and safety of the event is not suitable. We had support from the Blacktown City Council and The State Rail Authority (who own the carpark) to host the event, but Sergeant Samcou from Blacktown Police stressed that we cannot support this event due to the amount of volume. Blacktown Police informed us that if we were to proceed with this event on the night without their approval, they would be there on the night to escort us out only to have all vehicles inspected.

We cannot stress how disappointed and apologetic to all followers for this unfortunate postponement. We intend to reschedule this event at a more suitable environment and will work closer with the traffic enforcement agencies on the new venue to be advise on the same channel. We assure you, the event will go ahead in the near future. We intend to create positive and safe environments for our events and we always work within the parameters of the law.

We believe the more we show that there are Responsible Automotive Culture Enthusiast in the mix of all their pre-conceived ideas of what our culture is all about.

So please continue to support us as we try and get this off the ground. We understand the limited amount of events for the import scene and we are working build a series of events and make this scene strong again.

We will be in touch once we have a new venue and date sorted.

Just got the email. So disappointing. Not their fault though, blacktown police are just dumbasses. Maybe they should do it in an area where the authorities don't have the notion that all car enthusiasts are hoons.
