Our banks terms are that we classify all cars as "average", no matter on age, modifications or milage. I left it as good as that is what the defualt setting is.

I don't work with car loans or the like so i wouldn't know what kind of approval conditions would be needed for this type of purchase... I thought I would help the guy out and show him what kind of figure banks would find "acceptable".

Also, i'm getting a bit sick and tired of you (Monty) attacking almost every post I make.

I'm not attacking you personally. I just don't agree with what you have posted. Working in the industry for 5 years I have a fairly reasonable grapple on car values. I also know that banks look at more than Red Book to see if a car books properly. They look at the security in a car if the lender were to default. They could not recouperate cost of default on that car if $22,000 was borrowed. The term for finance would be 3 years maximum with a $4-5k deposit which could increase depending on the security of the lender.

Like I said, I'm not attacking you so relax. I just beleive that the expectations of the OP could be a little high based on opinions voiced in this thread. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, merely a realist. Take Vinckiwan's DC2 for example. It's a very tidy low milage 2001 CW DC2R with tasteful mods ad he has had his car on the market for months and still can't sell at $21k. Given the popularity of the DC2 compared to the DC5 this is a great yard stick.

Case in point. I bought my 2003 DC5R for $20,500 in July of 2007 with 56,000kms on it. It had previous accident history though, but still a well repaired car with low milage holds a slightly higher value than a high milage car.

i still pay a little more with higher milage.. previous accidennt, it depends if its chassis damage. If your car had any chassis damage then the handling of your DC5R is compromised.. i've had none luckily

Honestly I'd rather a car with no accident history than one with one and lower kms.

And besides lower KMs doesnt mean anything if the previous owner did not look after the car or service it properly.

"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

Chassis had been checked out. All damage was superficial panel stuff that was green lighted by an engineer. I picked up a super cheap car and since it has undergone the rebuild it has previous accident damage has been completely erased. There's quite alot of unjustified paranoia surrounding cars in accidents. People assume the worst but these days a front end accident results in brand new replacement parts being used. The area that's a bit grey is usually the painting.

Complete service history, but again my car really shouldn't be used as an example here because it was pruchased for a purpose not relating to road use.

i agree with monty i sold my dc5r with 118k for 24500 in march 07..

with 160k you would have to be realistic and know it wont be in the 20-25k bracket.. my 2 cents..

Your '02 was slow though so you were lucky to get that price.

Kookie has sold his DC5R, perhaps he should post up the price he sold it for to give a realistic idea of what the car was worth.
