DIY - LSD rebuild (broadband only)

not really a rebuild, but more of a "clean and inspect"

this LSD came from a smashed ITR gearbox, along with all the metal particals and shavings that go along with a expoded bearing...

so the problem was that i could not install it without knowing that it was free from steel shaving contamination... so i removed the ring gear, and managed to separate the two LSD carrier halves to clean it.

i used Kerosene and a paint brush to clean the parts and did it in two stages: 1. bulk/mass clean 2. detailed clean

then i was able to inspect the parts for wear and damage - which there was very little wear and zero damage...

    separate the two differential carriers:

after washing and rinsing with Kerosene

    and the rebuild:

    add the thrust washer

    add the right side gear

    add the centre washer

    add the left side gear

    add the other thrust washer

add the 4 short pinion gears

add the 4 long pinion gears

install the large differential carrier over the top

    and close it down

      Awesome work dave

I see you worked out how to take it apart. How did you take it apart as I remembered reading that you were having trouble with it?

you need to do very little to drop in...

just recheck/change the thrust washer clearance (as you are putting in a different differential), swap the 4.4 ring gear onto it and drop it in...

but as i am doing - droping in the 4.7 final drive and ITR second gear will help too!
