DC2R front speakers

Since no one has bothered to take photos of this i decided to do so for refence...

Took the front door off to take a look inside at the speaker (as it buzzes a little when i crank it on a bassy song).

Took some measurements as you can see on the photos.

I want to fit some 6.5" Hertz speakers (or some 6x9s if possible??).. looks like a spacer will need to be made due to the size.. 6" Vs 6.5". (or are the stock ones 5")????

the distance between the glass and the face of the sheet metal on which the space sits is about 5.5cm

the distance from the centre of the hole/speakers to the mounting holes in the sheet metal for the spacer is 9cm

orig speakers are 5.5cm deep in total

what are the two black boxes inside the door trim. one of which would obstruct a 6x9 being put in...

So question is..

6x9+lots of effort getting it in, making the right size spacer, removing that black box that is in the way and getting hertz ECX690

OR

6.5"+less effort, right size spacer but at least its round, hertz HCX165

OR focal?







30W max and 15W nominal. I assume RMS

Looks like 6" speakers are standard


Original speakers are about 5.5-6cm deep


Not sure why the inside of my door is such a mess.. must be from the last wanker crash repairer i used when getting that door fixed after being keyed.

You can see there is about 1-1.5cm of room in front of the speaker before the door grill

I would suggest you stick with 6" - 6.5" splits for the front... they will sound a lot better than any 6x9's.

might also have to modify the standard plastic mount to fit a deeper speaker in there. had to modify mine to fit aftermarket speakers.

yeah going to make a spacer using mdf.. interesting, 6.5" sounds better than 6x9.. interesting..

of course a circle speaker would sound better.

and oval just tries to make it something it isnt and also fit into the rear shelf.

that is why 6x9's were invented...

if you want sound clarity - better sound all around, then use 6.5" splits.
if you want just a loud sound, 6x9 would do it, but sacrifices the clarity.
