it's clear that it's not there since the picture of the intake box shows that there's no resonator airbox.
you can put the resonator back in that's if your car came with one, it'll stop the whistling though there'll be restrictions in the airflow and vtec does not "kick in" as hard or sound as loud as if the resonator was removed
Yes, it's there, if you mean the oval shaped, white plastic tube the airbox sits on top of and connects to.
bro i love smashin vtec past ppl with there windows open! they got no idea what it is
So do I, but just I don't want this one to be loud, that's why I'm changing the exhaust back to stock also. I want this particular ITR to be stock and in the best condition possible. That's what I'm working on at the moment.

yeah man i got stock zorst noone suspects the sound that comes out of my cold air haha i love it but im over the quiet exhaust becuase i pick up on every lil noise my car makes haha not to mention i almost fall asleep when driving home some nights!
mate seriously forget the intake whistle ..... go to Honda and buy a air filter ASAP there $65 ...... i can see in your pics that your car has sucked small amount of dust (ie on the throttle butterfly > black stuff<)
you have to be careful with B18C's or any Honda's for that matter as they have allot of intake vacuum as well as being high verlosity,, so there for if your filter is really really dirty like yours is, it can suck threw it.... might only seem like small amounts of dust but this is what stuffs valve seats on high performance engines particularly the intake valve ,, wont worry your bore and piston as much.....

I'm going to buy some throttle body cleaner ~ clean out the throttle body well. After that, as you say, a new filter is in order. My mechanic was supposed to install a new filter and a complete airbox (it had no airbox when I bought it last week, just a cheap pod filter). The pod was old and dirty. It wasn't effective in cleaning the air anymore. I suspect thats the reason for the carbon build-up in the throttle body.
My mechanic installed a stock airbox he had lying around, but as you can see he installed it with an old filter hoping I wouldn't notice. He said it was new! Mamarucho!
Re the noise, I hope it will lessen. Otherwise, I guess I'll get used to it eventually.
Hey dude... i'm pretty confident that 95%, the whistle sound is coming from your intake. It is a "normal" and typical sound that comes from a B18C as a lot of ppl have told you.
I had stock filter before, then dropped in a Trust air filter and it started making that whistle noise around 3-4k rpm. Got rid of stock intake and put in a Mugen CAI and around the same rev range I got that whistle sound, but twice or thrice as loud...
I think it sounds awesome! You probably just don't like it because you're not used to it, and to you it sounds like there is something wrong with the car... but all I can say is, don't worry about it, relax, and enjoy!
Where area do you live in? Maybe a friendly fellow forum member can jump in your car and listen to it for you, and then you can jump into their DC2R and listen to their car whistle too... If you live in South West Sydney I'm willing to meet up with you and take you for a ride in mine and listen to the beautiful whistle of my Mugen CAI.

Cheers bro, but I'm in Melbourne (Northern Suburbs).
re: hole - i am not 100% sure if that is what TODA is referring to, but that is my "guess"...
if i were to seal that, i would use a RTV type sealant...
but i would also seal it on the inside, which would require the purchase of a new TB gasket (i can give you the part number if required, will have to look it up...)
