    bad for engine?

i recently just got a type s, and wondering if always kicking it to vtec say hitting it up to 7800 revs on and off for 10- 15 mins a day or once every 2 - 3 days bad for the engine?...should i just take it easy say always shifting at 3000rpm.

you comments will be most helpful

    thanks in advance

thrash it as much as you want. The engine is made for it, only thing is that you going to waste more petrol. Make sure you warm it up as well before vtecing

bro... as long as you have oil changed 5000km vtecing ever now and then is no problem. The car is built for that purpose, to rev past 5800 to 8000 anyday.

You drive a dc2, so maybe thats why you're a bit skeptical but the K20 is fine.

Anyone who tells you using VTEC is bad for a Honda is a common fool. That's like saying boost for a turbocharged engine is bad.

anything below redline is fine once the engine is warm that is the cars were designed with track in mind and vtec is there for a reason....these motors are made to be thrashed..not thrashing a car can be bad as well....build up carbon quiker

on my old dc2 itr i use to give it a belting and it had over 170,000 when i got rid of it (bought with 75k on the clock). never had an issue. only thing i can recommend is changing the gear box oil when you do your oil for the small cost it really looks after the car. but thats just my 2 cents

It doesn't matter what gear you are in. VTEC has the same operation whatever gear you are using.
