    The gearbox is easy to remove and replace with the motor in the car, same with the head - why make work for yourselves? Or don't you have access to a hoist? If so, I can see why you'd pull the motor.

    Has anyone had to remove / replace a motor / gearbox before? I know you have Tink...

        I think he means that if you didn't have access to a hoist that it might be easier to pull the whole motor than do it in the car... ?

          oh, yeah, i get it

          so - no, no hoist, only an engine crane in my garage will be used...

              just remove the engine. Sounds like a days job anyways.

                I have never taken a gearbox out of a DC2 with the engine in but i did with a early accord and it was painful because there wasnt enough room to slide the g/box off the input shaft before the g/box hit the body.
                Looking back taking every thing out would have made things much smoother and there would have been no need for that 2m crow bar.....

                  I have pulled out and replaced a motor.
                  No luxury of having a hoist though.
