if they DO say it is your injectors making the noise, i would be quite surprised... but i dont know the history of the car, so it could be anything, lol!
Can that type of noise be tempramental or would it be constant if the valve clearance was off?

      constantly there...

(getting quieter as RPM increases - due to engine noise overpowering the valve rocker clatter...)

if it is too wide, then it is noisy, if it is too narrow, it will run poorly...

it is very fiddly work, and is made much easier by using the Snap-On tool for it... doesnt take much time though...

places like Hannys who do lots of Honda work would be the best place to get it done... but yes - any mechanic *could* do it...
If its too wide will it also run poorly as well as being noisy? I think mine need it done. Going to see my mechanics tomorrow about it...

Also is it best to get it done when the engine is cold because if its hot the metal parts have expanded and you can't get an accurate measurement of the clearance?

          ahaha yeah... its constant..

If its not, then you have piston play or forge pistons ahaha....

the valves determine how much air enters and exits teh engine...

if they dont open as much (like when there is wide clearances) then teh valves open a little later and a little less... so obviously it will make ti run worse too

I think mine need it done. Going to see my mechanics tomorrow about it...
a mechanic will know the sound of loose tappets straight away...

kinda - the heat expands the metal (that is why it needs a small amount of clearance in the first place) so the gap will be closed or irrellevent if the engine is warm...

that is why the exhaust clearance is 0.008 and the intake is 0.007 - the the exhaust gets hotter and expands more...
