the reason for the use of platinum and iridium is not because the work BETTER...

it is because they work the SAME for 10 to 20 times LONGER duration...

If you want to know what the stock plugs the K20A2 uses then just look in the manual, it tells you.

an alloy is a combination of different elements (usually metals).. a metal this is a mixture of platinum and iridium is an alloy.. that's what i meant.

I did Yr 12 Chemistry.. i know what an element is

oh, right, well, to answer your previous question, no - it seems they are not an alloy, the plugs seem to be 'tipped' with two elements, one on each side (center iridium and ground platinum)...

correct me if i am wrong...

are you suffering from deonation or pinging at high RPM?

                do you circuit race it?

do you spend longish periods at high rpm under load?

your tuner might suggest it anyways... check with them too - even if you are not going to race it...

                        is that good or bad?

i avoid octane booster at all costs.

I'd assume thats bad as platinum plugs are designed to run a lot longer than 20K

Why do you aviod octane booster Dave?

We just use $4 plugs in our engine. FFS there spark plugs, wont gain blardy 10kw with em.

Octane booster very bad for plugs!

Alot of people dont realise that the exotic plugs maintain their gap for extended periods opposed to $4 plugs running well to begin with, but then the sparks wears away the poles it needs to arc across causing the spark gap to become larger over time causing you grief, if changed often then performance wont be affected with these cheaper plugs.

OEM use the exotic plugs for reduced maintenance, better emissons, performance, and fuel ecomony over a longer period of time, 100k for example with those plugs.

There is plenty of info on the net regarding them if you wanted to learn abit more about it.
