sorry to sorta jack the thread but its very related.

For denso iridium plugs they recommend a diff plug for the B18CR and B18C7, for B18CR its a IK22G @ 1.1mm gap and for the B18C7 its a IK20 @ 1.3mm gap. I dont know the temp stuff for denso.

I wanna know why they would differ for almost identical engine?

      link to Denso site?

      try the NGK site:

      http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp?AAIA=1367850

the diff between the B18cR and B18C7 is that the B18CR *might* be the JDM version, which is a more aggressive engine than the AUDM ones, hence larger gap?

but it is unclear from your comments exactly what you are talking about.

im trying to find out why there would be diff plugs for and engine thats very similar, same comp ratio, same cam duration. Only diff is the jdm engine uses 100ron fuel and a slightly diff tuning

will you race it? how will it be tuned? how do you drive?

8's can be tricky on a 'daily driver'

also - ask your tuner what they think

wont necessarily be racing it - just the occasional track day i guess.
it'll be a daily driver and i give it a few squirts here and there.

i have to ask.. umm whats the fascination of running IRIways for the street? wouldent a decent normal Irridium Sparkplug Suffice? heck i think you could almost get away with running Coppers on a stock type R with little Ill effects =P.. just change it more often =P

i only ask this is because i run normal iridiums on the track as well..

haahh I have an article at home.. the Champion gold spark plugs for $16 a set out dynoed almost all the irdium ones (it was done by hot 4's a few years back)..

on an almost stock ITR where is runs rich down low.. i cant imagine how many sets of $100 plugs u kids go through.

since the 5 dollar copper plugs last 5000km and 25 dollar iridiums last 100000km,

i guess we'd be using less than someone using copper plugs?

i thought coppers were like 3 bucks each..

                                or something...

although i have to admit i use irridiums.. i somehow dont think i would leave it in there for the full 100,000 km... i seriously would prolly change it out at 30,000 or 40,000 since we do punish it a fair bit more...
