    Best spark plugs for B18C7

    Did a search but couldn't find...I am sure it has been answered a thousand times, and if there is already a post can someone please direct me.

    I am going through a re-build atm and am gathering up all the neccesary bits n peices. Will be a moderate build, comp will be somehwhere around the 11.8 - 12 mark.

    Any suggestions on a suitable set of sprak plugs?? Also a link/shop i can source them from would be good too.

    i dont know if you do higher compression that you should shift to colder plugs or not.. but Iridiums are prolly as far up the scale of "GOOD" sparkplugs.

    but here are the codes.. BKR6EIX11 (good for stock)
    but i guess you would want a Colder plug so you can try the BKR7EIX11, or the BKR8EIX11.

    i move between the 6E and 7E.. i havent tried anything colder..

      IRIWAY 8's are pretty good...

      i will get you a source location later today (i am after a set myself!)

            Thats a good price.. considering that if you went to autobarn and asked for the normal Irridiums i quoted.. the BKr series they would be about that price at the store..

            but i do know of a place that sells the plugs for about 13 bucks a plug if your interested..

              Std heat range for B18C7 (Type R) engine is 7
              That is PFR7G-11

              If you use a cheapie - use BKR7E-11
              Heat range 8 is 1 colder than stock.

              B18C2 std plug is heat range 6

                  I was just commenting as Wlee2 mentioned the std plug was a heat range 6.
                  That's all... No biggie...

                  I agree though, the iridium plugs are a bit better than stock...
                  IMO, the heat range makes more difference than the plug type though.
                  There is a difference that you can measure on the dyno,
                  But I doubt the butt dyno could feel it.
                  For 11.8~12.0:1 I'd go a heat range 8.
                  or IRIWAY8... It's easy to remember.

                      when your setup is pre-ignitioning or detonating...

                      (or when you want to ensure you dont get pre-ignitioning or detonating)

                      you know you have gone too cold when drivability is effected (i.e. due to the plugs getting fouled)

                        In addition to above,
                        When tuning high compression engines on the dyno,
                        Light detonation (Dave’s term of pre ignition is more correct) can occur at continuous load due to plug being too hot,
                        Moving to a colder plug often solves this without need to alter timing.

                          ok cool, thanks for that guys, sounds like the IRIWAY8 is the way to go

                          Just to be sure, here is a link to a seller that is selling them, just making sure that these are the ones. To be honest I am not sure, as it says suitable for gti-r and other sr20 egines. Are these the same thread etc or is there a specific part number that I need to quote to the seller?

                          I did a bit of research and found the specs for them, they are:
                          Thread diameter - 14mm
                          Thread length - 19mm
                          Width across hexagon flats - 16mm

                          Does sound right for a b18c7?
