    can you elaborate?

I thought the surge tank in your engine bay was designed to stop fuel surge?

well, you wouldnt have surge if you had a full fuel tank, so the point of a surge tank is to actually allow you to run the lowest level of fuel possible without danger...

so the surge tank in my engine bay was designed to stop fuel surge, which is brought about by low fuel tank levels...

        Okay!

On my day off went to super cheap auto (didnt have bulb), went to jaycar (didnt have bulb) went to repco - they had it.

Changed the bulb - THE PETROL LIGHT STILL DOESNT COME ON IN THE REDS!

        WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE!?!?!?

My DC2R feels so much better with a full tank of fuel... hate driving it around with minimal fuel in it. Which is almost never anyway

have you checked the factory manual?

it should be in the Electrical section, not the Fuel section...

i agree, it "feels" better with a full tank...

but laps times prove it is slower...

check for DTC's to see what the computer knows about it...

that will help isolate the issue.

PS - it is section 23, page 133 of the 98-01 manual for the fuel light trobleshooting steps...

(which it looks like your car has failed, so need to look to the DTC's anyways...)

hmmm, maybe you don't actually have the factory manual?

DTC's are covered in section 11, page 32

I pulled up the carpet under my boot and found the cables that lead to the fuel tank.

They're all in place correctly... Anything else I should check?

Haha yeah I don't think I've had a fuel light as inaccurate as the one I look at nowadays (DC5R)
I've got a 50L tank and sometimes it comes on, i refuel and I only get in 35L, other times it comes on and i refuel, and it's close to 50L to fill the tank ! So random! ... maybe something gets stuck somewhere so I need to bang the side of my car with a hammer
So I'm guessing it's not a problem inherent with integras (unlike say a notchy 2nd gear)?
