SEX!
LOL
As for the need for a strengthened strut brace, on the face lift DC5R, they increased it by 40%.
If you want to see how strong a strut brace should be for serious performance, check out the one on a R34 GTR Z-Tune...
Something that I just thought of as a design for the front is a one piece aluminium billet brace. Think very big and thick with the part machined out for the gruppe M

I have a Type S and I have a gruppeM intake. My stock brace is different to the Type R.
Is the brace your making a complete replacement??
Originally posted by JDM_DC5R View PostOk guys, I have found one of the best metal fabricators in the biz.
The level of his work is like art.
I am going to have some prototype braces made up, since the braces available for our cars is inadequate.
So I'm putting it up to you guys to be part of the development so that, short of a roll cage, we can be the first to have the perfect braces fitted to our cars.
For those farmiliar with the JUN DC5 build shown on BMI Club VTEC, the rear under brace was amazing and nothing close to it is made for the public.
This will be copied, as I trust JUN's R&D.
Above inside the car, the rear suspension brace will be straight between each strut top, then form a cross as it rises to the mid-brace level, then maybe even another cross as it rises to the c-pillar level. Along with this, the rear strut brace could form a cross across the boot floor, giving the boot floor more strength.
At the front a very ridgid 3 point design between the two strut tops and the firewall, forming a triangle shape, with a master cylinder brace. It will also be made to clear Gruppe M intakes.
To go even more over the top, the 3 point front bar may even have webbing making it a truss design.
What do you guys think?
The prototypes will be made of stainless steel, but the production pieces could be made in aluminium, or titanium if anyone is able to source the raw material, made to order in the same design.
For an idea, they will be around $250 each if there are enough orders once the prototype is made.
But please comment on any design ideas and improvements.
Also let me know if you guys are really interested.Nankangs, Better than Your-Mums-Cans

Ok, let me clarify, the bars have not been made yet.
I have opened the thread to identify what bars i should design and make, which are not made already or the bars that are already available are insufficient.
Yes, the front brace which will be made up will be a complete replacement for all DC5 models.
The under brace will be a copy of the JUN picture I posted.
Carbing already make a very good 6 point front under brace, which I have and it really is a great bit of kit.
The rear upper strut brace I am going to design will be a VERY sturdy piece, as this large opening on the DC5 is very weak, unlike other cars which have a metal sheet behind the back seats.
Give me 20 minutes and I will post some concepts.

pics of 6 point on car which shows from underneath please!
I wanna see how much clearance you get from teh ground.
"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

I got it from the US for around $350 + shipping.
Sorry about the pic, LOL
Here are some ideas for the braces to be made. All will be rigid with no pin joints.
The front could be welded like in the pic below or it could be made from a single piece of billet aluminium.
The rear could be either of these designs, as a single piece.

Let me know what you guys think.
