What Power to expect form a DC5-R with mods

    hey all

i am thinking of getting a DC5-R and was wondering what power(in Kw's at the wheels) to expect with some basic bolt on mods.

mods: 4:2:1 headers with full exhaust(2.5), Pod filter with induct piping and possibly a retunded ECU or aftermarket ECU.

    cheers

what ECU and suspension do you all recomend, the car will be mainly my daily driver and occasional track use.

        Buddyclub/Cusco coilovers

If you're ecu is compatible when get a Hondata K-Pro

          man pruning really sucks.

way too much options man and your descriptions are alittle too loose for us to give u more precise advice. How many times is occasional, do you want track bias or street bias? How much power would u be happy with?

toda headers, hi flow cat and 3" exhaust have arguably been the best exhaust combo (with either Hondata K100 or K-pro)

in terms of intake, CAI is better than SRI in the DC5R - injen, AEM, Mugen or GruppeM just to name a few....

what i meant by occasional is maybe once a month or fortnight.

i currently have a S15 with pod filter and intake, front mount intercooler and exhaust system. i would be trying to chase similar power witha type R, i guess there will be more mods needed.

AKS200, I don't think it will be easy to chase similiar power figures that you have from your S15 on the DC5R...N/A is much harder to get power out of if you poured the same amount of $$ that you did for your S15 into the DC5R

well first i will have to get my hands on a DC5-R then do the basics.

how are the standard brakes on the car? what pads do you guys recomend?

it is much harder to tune an N/A dc5R than a turbo S15 for additional power, for many reasons but mainly the fact that the honda's factory intake/exhaust are very highly tuned so any mods provide minimal gains, whereas it is easy to improve on the tiny and poorly designed intake/exhaust on an s15 and make significant gains. that and the exponential benefits related to a turbocharged engine.

in terms of coilovers, what are you after? what will the car be used for? do u like very stiff suspension or prefer firm but not too bone-jarring? what spring rates do you want? do you want pillow-ball upper mounts on the front or not? do u want coilovers with a helper-spring or do you prefer a single spring? do you want progressive rate or fixed? do u want ride-height adjusted independantly of spring compression? do u want adjustable dampening? do u want seperate oil reservoirs? what is your budget? once you have answered all of these questions you will have a shortlist with which it is easier to work and decide what's best for you..

dude... if ur after speed and big HP, IMHO, dont get a DC5R.... alot of ex turbo drivers turn the type R as a solution, but 90% of the time get dissapointed.. if u want a car what will run 11s on a quater mile, then honestly stick with nissan or alternatively, even mitsubitshi (EVO)... but if ur after a circuit/track car, by all means, go for the DC5R hope this aids towards ur decision of gettin a new car.....

I'd like to see a nissan or evo that does 11s easily on a quarter mile....
