    Oil Cooler recommendation

    Hello pplz,

I'm starting another thread here about the oil cooler topic, well basically can anyone recommend different size oil cooler with different application, I remember tinkerbell was using a ebay one stating it didnt work that well on the track with a 2-3 hard laps.

Well basically its for a worked b18cR, how many role oil cooler should i get for occasion track use and daily driving?

    Cheers
    Perry

the earls kits that they had a group buy on crsx before would be fine too. Plenty of exeperience with the kit too interms of mounting locations hardware needed. I would go the earls. Track tested too and proved to reduce temp.

you recong a 10 row will be ok because my setup is a high reving motor and i was plannin to go very hard on the track i was recommended going 19 row, what you think?

the group buy that we did ..
          we used 16 row

personally i think 10 row is too little ..
          16 is really good ..

10 row is stretching it, I have the Trust one and I would want to upgrade it eventually. You might need to find a way to increase your oil pressure though.

I agree. If you track it. 10 rows is definately not enough.
16 is good compromise between track and street. If you mainly track the car then perhaps 25 row would be better.

Out of curiosity, with the group buy, did you guys get sandwich plates with the thermostat in them to only run oil through the cooler when it reaches operating temp ?

no t.stat was included AFAIK in the GB

if tracking car - use 19 row as minimum IMO

Note, this is an EK ... Not a DC2/5. Comments on those models not applicable in consideration of aerodynamics, bumper design and what is available. Routing excessive longer lines, wrong mounting point/positions, the number of rows on cooling plate all matter. More does not equal to better. This isn't displacement or horsepower/torque.

...but the comments do provide a very good basis for decision making.
