Im definately sure there would be a benefit with the indicator out and nozzle facing forward than indicator in and nozzle up. Its simple physics.

Whether it is noticable or not? - Dont know havent run it with the indicator out yet :P

there will only be benefits if its tuned for that, which no dyno would be able to take most advantage of. your car is tuned to run a certain % of air, when you face it forward and remove indicator it will place a higher % of air in.... running it leaner.

Its especially seen with dirt n pit bikes.. They used to be often faced forward but now they are all built with it facing backwards just because of that simple affect.. but then obviously they're more sensitive to leaning out then cars..

does that mean the DIY CAI pipe's to a pod would be doing the same thing as well in terms of making the car run leaner than it should, not as much though but similar concept?

no. thats what the ecu is for. to control the air:fuel ratio.
more air in---> ecu detects more air, compensates by running the injectors to a higher duty cycle to provide more fuel to maintain the correct air:fuel ratio as per mapping..unless your injectors are maxxed out, which they wont be in our lightly-tuned dc2r/dc5r's..

btw, ive seen 00dc2's mugen intake install and it looks very neat and sounds really really nice. convinced me to get an intake too..

because the CAI as a "mod" is such a *weak* influence on the combustion process any way, the AFR wont change much at all - regardless if it is a 'pod on a pipe' or the Mugen...

(but note, the concept of more air = leaner holds true only if the CAI is a effective one)

why care though? lean is GOOD!

(dont forget to reset the OEM ECU occasionally too)

remember it measures air pressure not density, so colder air = leaner... doesn't it?

so just confirming, pretty much for basic bolt on mods, i wouldnt need to worry about leaning out at all.
but having the oem ecu reset would just make it run better?
