Ditto, I faced mine up as per the mugen instructions...

      I disagree.

I think they face it up for issues with sucking in water.

For performance; IMO its best to have it facing forward. This would create a minor RAM effect. Thats how I have it.

        Agreed...

Mugen design it facing up so you don't suck in water and destroy your motor (to save there ass).

Facing it forwards and taking out your indicator would give you optimum performance!

i wouldnt call the factory intake 'restrictive' as such. its really good for a factory intake imo..but yeah obviously can be slightly improved upon.

thanks for the writeup mic. im still considering the gruppeM tho..i want to se/hear yours. gotta catch up soon.

hey szy, my knee has improved to the point where i am driving since yesterday. So i am good to meet up anytime.

maybe you could start a thread asking people for their experiences with the gruppeM on a DC2R.. and compared to the Mugen.

                ^ +1

would also like to see what others have been able to compare from the gruppeM to the mugen.

the gruppeM doesnt have a funnel extension as well on the dc2 does it?

This depends on how rich you run it. If you aren't running rich then this would be not so good. This is bad as it will run more lean, leaner if the corner indicator is taken straight out... creates less pressure so the air moves alot faster and the injectors don't make up for this current surge... even though its no a massive surge of air like turbo, nether-less it is still a surge in air
                  ..

                  don't face it

so if the car was pretty much stock, it would be better to have the funnel facing up?

Not true actually, there may be a science here and I don't know. I do know that some airscoops are positioned backwards because if face forwards, the turbulant nature of the incoming air actually disrupts the intake charge.

The RAM effect is much more of a market speil, unless you're travelling at 123456km/h, the RAM effect from a non forced induction system is practically nil, at normal atmospheric pressure. What you do get is Cold Air, which improves performance, which then people incorrectly attribute it to the RAM effect.

I can tell you another disadvantage of facing forward, the trumpet edges are brittle and if you have an off, it can crack from the gravel. Mine cracked but fortunately did not break away, so I managed to expoxy it back.

Finally, all that said, I have mine facing forward anyway because it looks cool when you look into the front bumper...

hey man, i go 6km/h faster with my indicator out down oran park gp straight then when its in... no shit (same corner entry and braking points) i know ur thinking im crazy and i am, but really feel it makes a small difference!

have you ever had issues with leaning out with the indicator removed?

I reckon its cooler air intake charge and also, the practice is doing you good, you're getting quicker through the turn at the same entry and exit points...and yes, you are crazy...
