Car had a major serviced about 5 thousand Ks ago . After a check today the oil is looking abit black .thinking i might flush it out and put new oil in .hence my need for a better oil that will lower my running temp if possible

Coolent is said to last 250 G km. Id do every 50 G km though. I dont no about dc5's, But i no when my dc2r reads slightly above half on the stock gauge its about 105 degrees. WAY to hot..

I think u may have a blocked radiator, screwed themo stat or your fans ant working!!!

type of oil would not have any noticable effect on the coolant temperture.

the coolant temp gauge is not a proper linear gauge, it is a device that reacts rapidly to warming up - then stabilises at 'normal' temperature, which has a wide range, then it goes up rapidly once a increase above normal range occurs...

it would be extremely unusual if the gauge read "a little bit higher" than than it normally does...

in other words - I agree with Karl (yes Karl, it has finally happened!!!)

to check - do your cooling fans come on much? how often? in what circumstances?

Still technical & somewhat relevant mate, the defi gauge will help you, but a quick check of your radiator inlet for a plastic bag will too ;-)

                    Bag blocking air flow.

Check of the bottom hose gets hot. when car is warmed up. You thermo stat may be stuck closed!

The bag covering the radiator. Stop air flow. In turn stops heat tranfer.

Maybe you're radiator is blocked, might be worth getting it flushed
Have a read of my build thread

that's what we mean... just have a peak behind where your front number plate is... there should be no leaves or rubbish stuck there as that's where the radiator gets air from...
