Noise started about 2000kms ago, been trying to look around for it and its definitely in the engine bay. The noise sounds something similar to if you spin a bike wheel that has many spokes and u put a bit of plastic in it whilst spinning. It sounds similar to that. You can hear it if u lift the hood up while idling but its not that noticeable from the exterior but u can hear it inside the cabin. The sound "speeds up" as u accel but disappears when u are decelerating. It seems to happen only on gears 1,2,3 and disappears on 4 and 5. I dont know if its there or not as the exhaust might overpower the sound.

Sounds like we probably have the same problem or a very similar one anyways... dc2/dc5 versions of it?
I haven't been able to make time to have it looked at and haven't been driving much because of it these last two months... If you do find out please let me know! ill do the same if i get mine looked at first.
edit: i stopped procrastinating and just booked to have my car looked at 10am tomorrow so ill let you know
I found a way to make it happen 100% of the time...
Eg: Cruising at like 70 and a fair way up the road are some traffic lights that turn red. Slow down gear down etc, end up in 2nd and just as you are about to stop...lights go green and as you accelerate the noise is the worst.
Bump- think this is better than a new thread maybe.
Car: DC5R - almost 100k
Noise: I would say it was like the sound you would expect if you held a piece of cardboard or paper to a high speed fan?? but more plasticy... I really don’t know how else to describe it ( i know this is a stupid explanation but its the best i can do)
Location: From the cabin it definitely coming from the Engine bay.
When and how: The noise occurs when accelerating in quickly (say i hit over 4k rpm) in 1st or 2nd while taking any form of right hand turn no matter how mild the curve or by very rapid acceleration straight line.
The noise then disappears and can’t be heard in any higher gear, if I gear down say from 3rd to 2nd and it revs over 4k. This will not cause the noise.
The guy at Hanny's is fairly sure its the exhaust flange gasket that is completely rooted. And under acceleration it is leaking and producing the weird noise.
I'm going to order one and have it replaced hopefully next weekend.

If this solves the problem then i might bring it to hanny's as well to get it checked out when i have time.
