Injen intake installed DC5 delaying VTEC?

    Hi everyone
Not sure if this has been covered or if its common, but it seems as though VTECis engaging a lot later than normal after I installed my Injen intake into my DC5 Type S.
VTEC is felt a hell of a lot more which is great, however it engages around 7K RPM....This worries me and i wonder why this is and if this can be rectified.

Have you checked your engine oil level?

+1 for engine oil level, also you can check if your vtec solenoid is clogged up/dirty
Have a read of my build thread

          Thanks for the reply guys
Ill check oil and top it up
As for the battery I disconnected it while installing it
Should I disconnect it again? Or is there no need? and how would I check vtec solenoid?

No need then if I disconnected during install, but wouldnt hurt to try? Bur if that fails like itr5093, check the vtec solenoid, could be no engine oil too

i reckon it got the usual VTEC dip after it engages so ur feeling the pull at 7k but its still engaging at 6

Its possible that its engaging at the normal 5800 but i dont feel anything until 7000 and its a decent pull
I used to feel it around 6 normally but not as much of a pull
Ill top up my oil and see if theres a difference and let tou guys know

only top it up if it needs to be topped up.

Some cars its normal to not feel the strong pull AS you here the it kick in or see it past the vtec point.

Ok so oil change made no difference unfortunately
Yet to clean the vtec solenoid
I would just like to clarify what my car is doing and hopefully you guys can understand
Its mainly a 2nd gear thing
Haven't properly tested 3rd because 7k rpm in 3rd is pushing 140-160km/hr and these melb roads are bumpy as sheeeit.

So in 2nd especially, power and sound gradually rise at a constant rate.at approx 6500 this curve stops...yes weird I know, and it just basically stays same speed as if the rpm increase does nothing until 7000ish rpm where it pulls like crazy and does so till about 8500rpm...I don't know if this helps or is normal. Another comment is that prior to the intake install vtec did have that similar flat power increase seen at 6500 rpm however it didnt pull after...hope someone knows what the f is going on lol

haha so this is normal? Because it really feels like VTEC is delayed. If this pull was at 5000/6000 this would be much better than 8000. Maybe should get a tune soon
