    I have this issue.
Not your ball joints. 95% sure it's your coils chief.

If you jack the car up and put it on stands then turn left and right does the noise still appear?

If it does, you could get a friend to look and listen in the wheel wells whilst you turn the wheels left and right?

Can you locate roughly where bouts the clunk is coming from?

My next guess would say it's the CV Joints before your ball joints...
After 145,000km on my DC5 my OEM ball joints will still fine before i replaced em.

Im from Sunshine VIC. When I jacked up the car and turned the wheels, no problems at all. I think I've found the problem !
Heres a picture of the ball joint on the left hand side.

Would these suit as replacement ball joints ?

Yes if you have an 02-04 Type R a ball joint suited for the 02-04 RSX Type S from the US will fit. There's no guarantee that the damaged boot means there is anything wrong with the joint itself, but it's best to replace them anyway. Let us know if that fixes your noise.

For a car that's seen a few kms it's not uncommon for the paint or powdercoat on the control arms to get chipped off and then the control arm will rust. It's not ideal, but it's not a big problem either.
