No need for c spanners, just use a screw driver and hammer to lock them together. Also, you might want to put a but if anti seize on them so they don't seize up on you later down the track.

Becareful when hitting with a screwdriver or something like a pin punch and a hammer. Those perches are made of aluminium and will be softer than what you will be hitting with. I did it with my N+ and never did it again after the damage it did to the perch.

Yeah you can do damage with a screwdriver and hammer, you need to make shaw you use a wide fat flat blade and get it right in the corner of the notch in the perch. Other option if you have a set lying around which works is a set of 14" stillsons, offset head stillsons even better because they can be a little hard to get in there

Yeah with coilovers, the locking perch needs to be checked and tighten every so often as they tend to come loose and make noises and etc ~ just a common issue

thanks for all the replies guys but honestly i don't want to use a hammer and screw driver as it can damage the coils i would rather try and get my hands on some spanners. can anyone link me a place where i can get some that are cheap?

I agree, I wouldn't use the screwdriver and hammer on coilovers with aluminium collars like yours. I have found the Tein spanners to be the best, here they are for a decent price: http://www.driftworks.com/tein-c-spanners.html

Those spanners don't work so well. That's why you are always hearing of the collars coming loose and cluncking noises start happening.
