    Entry Level Coilovers

Front shocks are leaking and I'm looking at about $1000 for genuine front shocks alone so I've been advised that coilovers would be the better option. Checked the coilover review thread but couldn't find anything - can anyone give me some feedback on the BC Racing Coilovers and what the difference is between the BR series and V1 series?

    V1 $1149: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BC-Racing...item2a24be0df1

    BR $1299: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BC-Racing...item23242bb25a

Purely for street, will never be track Just looking for comfort and height adjustment which they both have anyway - thanks!

Maybe take a look at Tien Basic coilovers, they usually have lower spring rates which will be more comfortable. Not sure if they'll be close to 1K or not but you may even be able to find a decent second hand set too

Thanks for the replies! Originally I was going with the Koni shocks and Eibach Pro Kit springs which would lower it about 30mm (where I wanted it) but just weighing up costs etc.

Have read reviews though and they've said that the BC BR coilovers are quite comfortable for street use.

If your not tracking the car, and the koni/Eibach will give you your desired height, I would go with that combination. If you like a comfy ride, I reckon you'd end up hating the BC coilovers if your not fussed about improving handling and just want to lower the car

It's pretty hard to beat the koni/eibach combo. Koni's are awesome dampers. And if you run on the street you don't need the car too low and shouldn't need to adjust the heights either so it's kind of a waste to spend money on that luxury if you arnt going to use it

I get what you mean, I'd always liked the idea of the Koni shock/Eibach combo. I'll see what the best price would be I can get on them - thats one of the reasons I didn't like the idea of coilovers was simply that I'd never use the adjustment system so it seemed like a waste.

Look into silvers neo max coilovers! Herd good things about them, will be purchasing some very soon
Have a read of my build thread

I just recently installed some Tein Street Advance coilovers on my DC5S and have no complaints so far.

They are pretty much the same as Tein basic with a higher level of damper adjustability. Very comfortable on the road on recommended settings (Too soft for my liking) so I have mine adjusted a little higher.

Overall I think these actually ride better than the stock suspension on the street imo. Set me back approx $1400. Spring rates of 7 at front and 9 in rear.

Used BC BR's and they're quite good performance wise. As tink said, both of the coils are too stiff for your requirement and most, if not all, will be less comfy than stock.

Depends how much compromise you would like, otherwise maybe just a set of second hand front shocks for a few hundred might be ok.

What about Yellowspeed Coilovers? I was quoted $1400 installed, don't really want to go above that to be honest. Wholesale Suspension and a couple of other reviews said they were excellent entry level coil overs.

He has no need for coil overs. Go with the Koni/eibach combo I reckon.. Thats What im going to do when I upgrade my stock sussy..

The shop I want to get it done by (very helpful plus saving a heap on labour costs) contacted Wholesale Suspension and they said they didn't have any Koni front suspension in stock for a DC5, may have said they never have them in stock actually.

Calculated it from a US store for an 03 RSX and it would cost me about $1500-$1600 all up for Eibach/Koni's. ~$1000 shipped for the Koni shocks and about $500 for the EIbach's plus installation.

Yeh I agree, the koni/eibach combo will probably outperform a lot of those top name brand jap spec coils, because the springs arnt matched well to the off the shelf coilovers.

A lot of people get caught up with fully adjustable coil overs but in reality, not many people adjust them too often.

If you do get the konis, they will have to be modded and you will have to use parts of your stock struts on them.
