    Boosted DC2R

    Was wondering how much Psi a dc2r would safely run on.. With same compression and no internal work??

    And what power gains are expected at this mount of boost..

    Have researched it.. People varry and say 6 to 10 psi!

            yeah, not so much in Australia...

            but yeah - it does matter...

            i run 14.5 psi in my engine same in my wife's Jazz...

              but more seriously - i think it depends on the quality of your supporting modifications, plus how 'healthy' your engine actually is... what are your compression and leak-down test results?

              all even? all solid?

              supporting mods - you need Hondata s300 + FPR + intercooler + proper manifold + quality boost controller + quality injectors (e.g. ID725's)...

              8psi should be enough to see 180kW or more?

              cheap out on any component, you wont see this much...

                          IEVAQ8's build is a good reference.

                          Uses a Garrett 3076R on a stock block B18C7 . Believe it runs 8 psi. Nets 220 at the wheels on a hub dyno.

                            How much PSI your turbo will run depends on two things.

                            1. size of the turbo
                            2. your power goals

                            This also means that the PSI required for a certain power figure (i.e 200kw) would be varying from turbo to turbo depending on there flow characteristics.

                            The reason why the size of the turbo matters is because each turbo will flow a different amount of air for the same boost pressure depending on size.

                            A GT28RS vs GT3076R will yield very different results because each has a different compressor wheel and turbine wheel size. The 28RS being a smaller turbo will be having to receive alot more boost (exhaust pulses) for its smaller compressor wheel to flow 200 kW worth of air than its bigger brother the 3076R, whose bigger compressor wheel and turbine wheel means when flowing 200 kW worth of air it is working at probably 50% of its flow capacity.

                            Basically any power figure requires a certain amount of flow,

                            For a smaller turbo like the 28RS, 200 kW would be near its maximum flow capacity, say 90%, meaning it will need to run its smaller compressor wheel much faster and harder, requiring more PSI (boost).

                            From a bigger turbo, i.e 76R 200kW would come at a much lower PSI, say 7-8, because it is capable of flowing much more.

                            Summary,

                            it's not a question of how much boost you need to run, but rather what power firgure you want and what turbo you have. Then you will factor in how much boost you need. A bigger turbo allows you to run lower boost, which would be ideal for a high compression B18's

                              There many reasons why we don't build a B-series motor, but i'd keep that to myself

                              To the op, your on the right track if you want to get more power out of the B-series. Seems like a decent turbo kit will get you 180-200kw's. You'll need decent bolt-ons to make it all work well together
