DC5 CEL flashing at 5500rpm

    I thought Vtec engaged at 5800RPM on a type S? Maybe im off. Although i think it depends on the year.

    Check your oil level. Oil pressure is one thing that is important for VTEC to engage. So possibly that could be related.

      oh yes this is very true, well except for the 5800rpm, never been in a s that hadit at 5800.. ive driven a 06 and i hav an 05

        Must have heard incorrectly then. I don't own a Type S myself, let alone a DC5 so i wouldn't really know :P

          maybe not, i think the mugen edition rsx type s from acura had a redone ecu that vtec kicked in higher

            Yea guys ive gone over my o2 sensors twice now and none are loose, anyother ideas why my cel would flash?

              tachometer isn't 100% accurate.

              even if it had aftermarket cams with stock ecu it'd still be the same rpm as stock.

                hmmm i doubt it would b 3000 rpm out, it does it right on vtec, not that it does it all the time, about 95% of the time. getting really over it
