I think Hoons are drivers who tries to push their car to the alsolute max on the road ....taking corners at 80 ....just dangerous....i went to sydney and thats the place u definitely dont want to drive like a dickhead on cos the road is tight.

my mate was driving his evo8 when a V8 commo pulled up to him and wanted a drag... he took off mildly whereas the V8 commo lost traction and pulled off a piss weak burnout.lol

1 min later the cop pulls my mate over and claimed he did the burnout ..its a stock evo8 and an awd...no point augueing my mate still llost his car for 24hrs..

one point im making is V8 tryhards should FUK OFF..thats why at the lights i always lead the V8's or V6's on to race but never drag... their speed off ..i just drive in peace
    ready! steady! go! i-VTEC!!!

I was at the lights the other day and pulled up next to a VW Polo GTI, when the lights turn green, I pulled out a little quicker than him and pulled ahead of him, rev'ed the car to only about 4 grand, he must have thought I was dragging him and he really gunned it.
I just watched in amusement (and at 2K rpm) as he went off ahead.

Guess he didn't like a barge pulling ahead quicker than his little toy.

I should troll VW forums and see if anyone's bragging about beating an Aurion...LOL...

I think someone who is a hoon is someone who habitually breaks the road rules and a general menace on the roads. * Urban Lead Foot Menace *

Indeed. However there are plenty of people that exhibit a flagrant disrgard for the road rules and others safety when on the roads that would not be labelled as 'hoons' by the media. The old nanna on her way to the shops that is too cool to give way or indicate for example.

                    not to me.

i consider there may be three defining factors of "being a hoon", that all must occur at once.

                    if you are:

                    1. driving a car at or beyond its limits

                    2. on a public road or road related area

                    3. "in company"

you may be acting like a "hoon"...

after seeing how a lot of people 'drive', especially when in close proximity to me... i would pay to watch something like that.

So would I. The point I was trying to make is that not every person that ignores the road rules is a hoon.

                            I agree with this guy

Hoons used to be the people who would do burnouts and try to race everyone at the lights, darting through traffic excessively and other shit like that. Drawing unneccessary attention to yourself.

I agree, back to basic where it all started. Since then it's just convenient for the media to use it as a "blanket" term, which is what joe public wants to believe is true.

In my area north of Adelaide hoons are made up of Commodores and Commodores no question at all.

I move through traffic efficiently, consious not to cause concern to the average drivers who have poor traffic judgement and reaction time. Likeminded drivers are happy to follow behind me, until that typical Commodore driver of any age, especially 30-50 year olds, sits in my right mirror as if to get me out of the way, I keep driving unintimidated within the law although honestly 1-2 km over and shift right slightly to block their view of my right mirror, they don't like it and either back off or swerve and bother someone else.

To me that is "hoon" behaviour. What they do with a clear road later is just stupid and irresponsible.

i think hoons are those that go out of there way to seek attention which driving... they purposely and do what ever they can to break road rules and put other road users in harms way
