    what is hooning?

    or what is a hoon?

with all the media attention, and the word "hoon" being bandied about left right and centre, i think it would be interesting to see what people actually think it means for a person to be labled "a hoon"...

the A Current Affair piece seemd to think that a person who is a street racer is a "hoon"

but to me, a street racer is even worse than a hoon...

is hooning about speeding? is it about burnouts? or is it about attitude?

or, is hooning, as this article implies, a duty of owners of Holden Commodores?

The car of choice -- 74 per cent -- was the Holden Commodore.
    LOL

i am not at all surprised.. and its probably even more so where i live in northern Adelaide as Commodores are made nearby.

The Commodore is the d!ckheads car of choice imo

Honda's dont make enough power to go fast so they cant be hoonable ( is that even a word?) vehicles.

But sometimes being a hoon is a result of granny shifters who are blocking traffic or driving annoyingly slow.

Let's not kid ourselves. There are dickheads in all kinds of cars, including Honda.

ahhhh, but is that really "hooning"?

you are not showing off to others, you are not doing it to be a menace, you are driving your own drive...

Once again Dave, I commend you for reading another News link ahaha.

In my opinion, a hoon is distinguished by someone's attitude and illegal actions on the streets.
To be a hoon, one must practice these attitudes/actions on public roads.

The term "hoon" is the general classification for all road offenders aside from DUTI,
Terms like "street racer" are sub groups within this broad classication.
Duty of Holden Commmodores or that of similar meaning and use, are stereotypes.

A hoon is a person on the road who does things you don't/wouldn't do on the roads.

Just say i drive 80 in a 60 zone.. then someone drives 85 past me. WHAT A HOON!

A hoon is everybody else on the road but me.

if you're faster than me, you're a bloody hoon
if you're slower than me, you shouldn't be bloody driving if you don't have the skill
if you at the same speed I am, get off the ferking road anyway, its mine.

Exactly. Road rage FTW. It's all about perspective, if you drive slow/speed limit and abide laws, anyone who brakes them are hoons. If you drive fast and brake laws when possible, there aren't many hoons around unless someone brakes the laws harder then you!!!
