I woulda thought half you guys bought ur cars to pull chicks like me on george street.

So you should all really be considering that one factor, which one will pull the most chicks.

I find this funny on a number of levels...

Anyway I can't find a single EK9 for sale, where do I look to see prices?

Considering EK4's (VTiR) are priced $12k-15k I fail to see how you can buy an EK9 (CTR) then put a B18C in it for < $20k ...

You can't buy an EK9 and do a K20 conversion with 20k budget and have room for more mods.

        EK4/9 - 9-11k
K20A/K20Z ranges from 6500 to 8500 (K20Z no LSD gbox)
        Hasport Mounts $855
        K Swap Harness $650
Hondata KPro depends who you get it from roughly $1000
        Custom/K Swap Header $1-1500
        Custom Cat + Catback $1000

Thats already exceeding your budget of 20k and thats if you plan to DIY.

From memory you also need the subframe, driveshafts, shifter cables, shifter box, etc etc from a dc5r. This list goes on....

to OP, i would go for an EK with the B18C swap, but thats my opinion..
if it were me, after owning a DC2 for a few years now, i wouldn't mind a platform change

            Ek9 converted or a real Ek9?

K20 or k24 swaps can be done around the 10k-12k mark.

Why would you need a VTiR if you're just gonna swap engines? Wouldn't a CXi suffice?

He hasn't given us any details of what he wants from the car other than spending $20k so we're all really just speculating.

                    Hey guys,

There was a yellow EK9 conversion in melbourne running a JDM B18C and its going for 21K which that is not a bad price, so i'm pretty sure EK9 can only be done with conversion. There is a few DC2R out there going for under 20K but I wont have much cash left over for any other mods, on the other hand I can get a cheap civic CXI going for under 8K and still have 12K left over for other stuff on my conversion. Which of the two cars are faster and more comfortable. Well actually I'm 20 y.o. thought i just let u knoe haha. Still have 2 months left to decide what im going to get, so I need more advice...but if I dont end up getting a DC2r or EK9 conversion then I guess I keep stick with my nissan 180sx.

                      I had a EK1 and was thinking about doing a B18C7 Swap
in the end I found it just wasn't worth the time and money involved and I got my DC2R in one neat package.

what have you done to the 180...

Ever consider putting a RB26 in it?
I think you would get much more satisfaction from doing something like that then building a Honda.

And the chances of anyone under 30 getting that insured are?

                            ek9-->ED civic--> eg--> S2K-->JDM DC2R-->EP3

A good friend of mine has a 180 with a RB20 in it with fair bit of work done to it (eg, coilovers, Recaro's, bigger turbo, cams, ECU etc) and he has it insured just fine... oh he is also 21.
