just so you know - you CAN drive a car that is not warm.

in fact - it is actually BETTER to warm a car up by driving it normally, rather than by let the car idle whilst stationary for 5 mins...

i actually agree with this particular way of warming up cars as well..
never been a fan of the idle stationary for 5 minutes thing..

Yeah but I mean if he gets a lot of snow and ice where he lives I can understand why he'd want to warm it up for 5 mins.

Living in Canada I used to warm my car up for a few minutes when it was below 0 degrees celcius outside, not to the point where the heater was blowing warm air but warm enough to get the fluids moving.

Perhaps where he lives its cold and feezing ?

I dun think its necessery to warm ur car for 5 min unless you live in the snows pat......like dave mention you only need to warm ur car up when you drive off and dun take it hard when you drive off cold. I uesd to do that but not for 5 mins tho......sth like 30 sec of running is good enough to let you drive off safe......its really not neccessery to idle for 5 mins bro. I think wat you mean by warm up is when you see the temp go midway yeah? It just waste of fuel bro.....

tries to remember the last time melbourne got snow..
mm wait i cant remember .. i wasent born!...

i have to say the longest ive ever left the car idle was for 2 minutes..

and that was because.. i turned on the car and relise i needed to get something from the house.. so i ran in while the car was still in the garage and came back out and drove off =P

if melbourne weather ever managed to get to 0 when you start your car.. maybee i would accept the idle for 5 minutes thing..

              just to keep it ontopic..

most of the Vipers have a Aux Button even the Chepo ones..
that aux button can be wired up to do anything.. but for the car starter kit you need to buy extra stuff. ontop of the alarm system.
same deal with the remote boot release.. i personally would go for the remote boot release over the remote start =P

alarm related questions are answered in post #2

rest of thread is about remote starters.

                  remote starters are illegal.
