    bumper melting

just got a dc5s and i noticed the rear bumper starting to melt and warp.
took it to larke hoskins homebush and they say its not a warrantable item and its not a stock exhaust (but it is...i think)

    hmm that's a bit strange...
that does look like the stock exhaust, but from the first picture, i don't know why there's a weld at the end between the canister and the tip...??

It's not the stock tip. They're right, you can't get warranty.

Here's a pic of my stock DC5R exhaust tip from the same angle. The stock tip isn't welded onto the exhaust. There is a sleeve with a single screw clamping it from underneath.

          That a genuine muffler remember it's a DC5S.

I'll find a pic of mine soon.

          The type S has a 4" tip.

The diameter is the same but the tip is lipped outwards and is welded. The DC5 tip is a sleeve, not welded.

This is the surprise I got when I changed my exhaust.
The standard one melted the plastic bracket!
I’m not sure but the DC5S has a larger diameter pipe to the DC5R?

Hmm, maybe the one that we had on our yard had a DC5R muffler on it. I stand corrected.

                      looks stock to me...
maybe the previous owner had an aftermarket exhaust?
dont know how warranty would work with that though since nobody can prove what was on the car before...

If so, how could the honda dealer prove the previous owner had a aftermarket exhaust? Just a thought I had....

The dealer will try everything to avoid replacing it under warranty
