    How trustworthy are repaired tyres?

I hit a massive pothole last night and deflated one of my tyres - apparently something inside bursted, but the outter tyre looks fine.

I was wondering if it was repairable - as i know punctured rims are - not sure bout this one...

if it is repairable - how reliable would the tyres be? i hear alot of ppl have no problems with repaired tyres; but i don't wanna be cruising on the highway and before u know it - it bursts open again...

The way I'd look at is this.

Is your life worth more than $200 ? if the answer is no then keep running the repaired tyre.

A pothole (or blunt impact) typically raptures the tyre, creates cracks..which are not repairable.
However, it could be that the impact caused the beads to come off the rim temporarily, causing the airloss..Have you tried re-inflating the tyre?
Repairable punctures are typically small circular punctures caused by nails etc. which can be pretty reliable.
          Good luck

            lol true..

but my tyres are about $400 a pop.. and being a straight up poor uni student; i thought maybe there were other alternatives

... unless you mean go for cheaper tyres; but wouldn't the different tread pattern affect performance abit?

poor uni students shouldn't be driving around in 40K plus cars

On a serious note, I don't think you have any choice but to replace the tyre. Do it once and do it properly.

if you can't afford the maintenance of the car then perhaps you should sell it

                    Get a new tyre.

Just go to any tyre shop and ask for their recommendation.

I tried to repair my puncture tyre last time and even though the hole was small but it can't be repaired according to Bureau repair guy so they won't do it for me.

So just trust what they say, just my 2 cents.

There was a guy on S2Ki who hit a 15cm potwhole which damaged his suspension. He took a camera and grabbed photos and then wrote a letter into the council explaining how he'll be letting his insurance comapny know to chase the the council up in regards to their lack of standard in road quality. Needless to say, they filled up the whole pretty darn quick the following days.

Could this be an option for you? "I hit a pothole which buckled my rim, popped my tyre and turned my Golf R32 into a Polo GTI?"
