There are probably some elements to the car that are just for aesthetic purposes. But the shift light is probably worthwhile given the revvy nature and also it probably has a soft limiter so it'd be nice to allow the driver to provide the required action without having the electrics cut in abruptly to avoid damage!. I'm more inclined to think that it's still a feature that places the driver first.

As someone else mentioned earlier, it's very heartening to know that Honda is still capable of producing Type R's which are true to it's philosophy. It's just really sad that Honda Australia can't (or won't?) make a case for bringing them here.

The reality is that they'd probably make a lot more money with the UK Type R proposition than the Japanese version despite that fact that us enthusiasts would rather write their cheques for something that's clearly more desirable (maybe our opinions are so miniscule in the market that we can be ignored?!).

The other sad fact is that Honda Aus is probably going to generate enough revenue with the UK Type R in this market that the bean counters will think that the whole exercise has certainly been worthwhile from a commercial perspective. ...BUT in a slightly perverse way, I hope that it does become a commercial failure so that they would be compelled to rethink their strategy and offer us buyers the Type R's that truly embody the Type R ethos. I'd open my wallet for that, and I hope (actually, would expect) enough buyers here to at least make it worthwhile in $$$ terms and would have an additional benefit in creating some integrity with the brand.

I can's see how things will change for us unless we vote with our wallets as there seems to be no driver (pardon the pun!) for Honda Australia to make available to us buyers what Honda Japan are clearly capable of creating. Soichiro was a motorsport fan and he would be turning in his grave if the underlying strategy for Honda worldwide (Japanese market excepted) were to deliver watered down marketing exercises and try to hoodwink the consumer in to thinking that they can stick Type R to anything and people will lap them up with the misconception that they're getting the genuine article... If I were to believe that the world was a fair place (which I don't)...then the truth will come out in the wash... but that won't be the case, and the only way we can compell the people that make the decisions that we want a Type R that we believe is worthy is to vote with our wallets.

...but that won't happen...middle Australia will buy them and people like us will continue to be ignored.

Now I've just made myself depressed for the rest of the day!

speaking of civic sedans i know the new civic sport sedan runs an engine similar to the one in our base model integras. K20a3 or something just a different variant. This also means that it should run the same engine mount setup.

The question is are the other civics running the same engine mount setup and is a k series engine transplantable?

If it is a transplant shouldn't be too hard to do the car would have a higher rev nature compared to an euro and will also be lighter too. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I think if people want to do swaps they have to do a lot of work on it...especially taking the gearbox over as well...Just checked Honda Aus webbie...it doesn't say whether Civic Sport is Manual or not..but I suspect it might be....but I'd rather have 6 speed than 5 if swaps is possible

From what I know is all the Civics got i-vtec engines..but the Civic Sport should be a revised K20a3 as Jing said...and the base model been the new i-vtec engines different to the Integras.

And talking about swaps... definitely can't miss the shift light thingy & the vtec display...it is not only a BLING..but as slipangle said...it'll help minimise engine stress when people are shifting at the right spot when they are just cruising slowly in traffic

Here's some more pics...I love Blue...Vivid Blue Civic Type R

The rear seats are improved as well..doesn't look as dull as the Integra's one... match the colour of the interior well ...the only thing different about the Vivid Blue Pearl one is the interior will be all black...unlike that of the Artic Blue Integra we had which had matching blue interiors ..But nevertheless...u still get Gunmetal colored rims (One thing to note is I think they've split the colour system between the UK & the JDM...UK gets Red, Silver, Black..while Jap gets Championship White, Vivid Blue & Silver.)

                Cockpit

New R will have a production plating right next to the gearbox..so u'd know which lucky R number u got (PS: Team Placed Right CTR Owner #00001)

Honda Aust's UK CTR claims a 0-100 with almost the same amount of power of the Old AUSDM Integra Type-R...but with heavier weight and still claiming 6.6 secs.....I wonder what the JDM CTR would be doing...Maybe close to 5 secs??? Since it's now got more power and much more torque than the old JDM Integra...which is known to do 6.1..6.2 on 0-100 mark

I think the new seats appear to be quite good... Be interesting to sit in them to compare with a Recaro...
