    Dc2r 100,000km+

    Hello all,

    Looknig at buying a DC2R.

Who here has owned one thats done a fair few kays.. like 100,000km+.

Have you guys had any issues with them at all? I'm abit weary of purchasing one even if it has full logbooks just for the fact that it will be 8-6 years old and may need some money and attention. I know Honda cars are generally reliable and well-made so thats abit of piece of mind, however please do share your experiences.

I've driven 5 DC2R's and really to fcuk off my Subaru now and trade "up". Same with my missus.

I keep it regularly serviced and haven't had a problem with it at all

If you are so worried then you should buy a new car.
Unfortunately only Type-S is available new.

Mine has 138,000km now and I've owned it since it had 6,000 km....

In that time the only major required repair was a gearbox problem which I solved by replacing the box altogether...

              my DC2 has done 187'000

been tracked pretty hard, but the only thing that has "worn out*" has been the rear trailing arm bushes...

              * i.e. i havent broken it at the track/upgraded it

I had my DC2R from 85000 to 125000 and it never skipped a beat...I never had any major problems...I don't classify myself as driving the car hard but I do give it a hit every now and then...It was serviced every 5000kms and all big services also completed as per log book but I had no logbook history hehehe

The only problem I had was a hairline crack in the rear engine mount which I replaced when doing the major service as I was installing ESMM inserts at the same time.

                  doh!

yes, the first thing i replaced at 154'000km was the rear engien mount and the thermostat,

then a front wheel bearing at 170'00km (yes, i just checked my service sheet log!)

also - my clutch master cylinder leaks, as it was at 154'000km but still have not replaced it, lol!

I guess the general answer to that would be the same one for most cars over 100,000km...

If it has been maintained and any issues have been taken care of properly, then it should be a good car. A well maintained car with 150,000km will be better than an 80,000km example which hasn't been maintained properly. This goes for the appearance/condition of the paint etc and mechanical components too.

                        Cam is spot on
i'm just under 210,000km - it's getting a major service on sat and i have not had any issues at all. I've had the car since 104,000km and serviced every 5,000km over the past 3 and a bit years (alot of highway driving).
I'm actually looking at selling mine soon and realise that the high km's will affect the price somewhat although it's still in good condition. Good luck with your search

                          Cheers boys.

I guess these appear to be fairly solid car then!

You can still find good examples of DC2R with less than 100k!

I've had mine since 45k (July 05) and I just had my 65K service with no probs!!

                            GL in your search!

bought mine at 35k and it now has 118k. I have it serviced every 10k by the dealer and every 5k between the dealer services i change the oil and oil filter myself.

Not a single problem in 4 years of ownership. replaced 2 light bulbs and 2 wipers in all that time.. that is it!

and that includes 2 track days.

no mods though.. just a baffled sump and rear tower brace
