Personally, i don't understand the need for Japan to feel unique by having something that other countries can't. I mean, this is a business we are talking about and keeping something instead of selling it, is pure stupid.....maybe that's why Honda's always a low sell company compare to others.

But remember Honda is the 2nd biggest car manufacturer in Japan - and their 2nd biggest market outside of Japan is the US. I'm sure they develop cars to meet regulations in Japan & the US preferentially than the rest of the world - so it's much easier to detune the car for the smaller markets ie Australia.

Don't quite understand your point though. Detune or not, it still don't explain why the need to sacrifice sales for the unneeded Uniqueness factor.

BTW, Honda U.S always get a detuned version anyway. I don't remember a ITR even make it there.

I was hoping we'd get the sedan... but I'm happy we're getting any at all!

I think a lot of you guys are jumping the gun here... the car is not even released yet and some of you are already bagging it out.

At the end of the day, it is still a Honda Type-R and for some reason, Honda badged it a Type-R! Looking at power figures on paper doesn't mean anything... What it lacks in power and gains in weight, this new CTR might actually have strengths in other places that makes it worthy to be a Type-R.

Some of you still bought the DC5R knowing that it had less power than the JDM-spec, but you bought it for a reason...

And I think that the bubble shaped hatch version looks cool too Let's all just wait and see how it goes when its released... I'm sure it'll grow on all of you!

You`s are lucky to have had Honda sell dc2r`s and dc5r`s and s model we in Ireland got the Eu spec dc2r 98-01.
The Uk is flooding with Jdm dc5`s as some of you may be watching the forums some guy`s are waiting months to sell theirs on.
The Jpyen weakness recently gave the Uk buyers in the auction houses a picnic!
I have personally driven a jdm Honda for nearly ten years and will probably do so for another 10.
Because the petrol prices being crazy and the high performance of a lower cc car back home there is a huge presence of typer`s/sir`s on the roads.
Not many v6`s or 8`s anywhere,diesel power mostly.
You could get a jdm spec Itr modiffied than a similar Irish Itr spec stock for cheaper on the secondhand market.
People like to pay for the service History english owners manual etc.
I don`t like that Civic hatch one bit.

It's not that we enjoy bagging the car before it's released. We have heard this from HA before. They'll make a big noise about the car, lull people into thinking we'll get what we see (JDM DC5R case in point) and then on actual sale day the covers come off and you get something else. That's just plain misleading!

i wonder if anyone will sell an aftermarket exhaust to fit the EU CITR's rear bumper. Or what bumper people will buy to go with their new exhaust systems.
