nah....make sure you buy the stereo male-male jacks
it works perfectly. I also plug my phone's audio out into this aux in headunit jack as a hands free sorta thing.

sweet. just picked one up from Jaycar for $4. Man the difference from the Belkin FM transmitter is phenomenal! The clarity and bass improved ten fold. I'll still use the dock for cradle purposes as well as charging.

Tofu, did you manage to hide the cords? i just tucked the cords behind the iPod. Just to paint a picture the dock has to be connected to the cig lighter and it has a flexible neck - so basically the ipod stands straight up directly beneath the headunit in the centre - being hard to hide the cables.

btw, i took my stock unit out the other day on my type S in hope that there was rca outlets. To my disappointment there were none. Is my only other option to get a aftermarket HU, all i'm after is a bit more bass.

opps, sorry to jack your thread!
a cheap alternative is to splice into your speaker cables (preferably rear) and install a high level line converter. you can then run RCA cables from that to an amplifier to a sub.

                hmmm..

does anyone have DIY on this? Sounds like something ill be interested. Will it be as if running the RCAs to the back of the headunit (clarity and performance wise)?

i didnt notice any decrease in clarity when I was running this sort of setup. Stock everything with a sub and some jaycar tweeters up front in the stock tweeter. sounded a lot better over completely stock..

i did it by taking out the rear speakers and running some speaker cable from the speakers to the boot using a thin soft clothes hanger. doesnt take too long.

primary difference between this and running off an RCA equiped head unit is that you cant control the sub individually from the rear speakers using the head unit. Might take a bit of time to tweak the gain etc on the amp to get it how you want it to sound, but its rewarding for a relatively cheap mod. i think my adapter cost me something like $15.

nah, i didn't bother to hide the cord.

I just use it as a plug and play, nothing is fixed semi permenantly

I've never thought nor heard of anyone whos done that before.
So basically i spilt the rear speaker cables, and attach the female rca cables and go through normal setup from there.

That makes sense, what i'm confused about is why you run your rear speaker cables to the sub? Can't you just connect the amp and the sub, i don't see the connection. haha thanks in advance.

no. do not simply add a female RCA connector to your rear speaker cables and hook this up to an amplifier. when I did it, additional speaker cables were run from the rear speakers to the boot and connected to a high-low level converter. This converter has RCA outputs and thats what you connect the amplifier to. you can bypass this if your amplifier allows for high-level connections from your speaker cable.

Ok, i think i got it now, so i spilt the wires on the rear speakers, hook the converter up to the rear speaker wires, then simply run my amp through the rca output on the converter?
