i really dont think theres anything wrong with rotas in the real world.

psychologically normal people will never understand the Rota hate, bar a few track drivers who've used and experienced Rotas failing on them. which arent that many in this forum

I have to agree - It's not that I own a Rota wheel, but bang for a buck why not?

most of people who brags the brand doesn't even take their cars in track

unsprung weight of a CE28N vs a rota version makes quite a difference in handling.

Wow! You are that intuned with the car?
We're the wheels the same spec and same tire?

Yeah...but I'm not so sure it makes such a difference for most of us to be honest. With my stock wheel set up, then going to 16"s...I couldn't tell the difference.

Let's face it, the Integra whilst a great handling FWD...is pretty heavy in the front anyway. And in street trim, you'd have to do something pretty drastic to feel the difference.

That said, moving from 16" on my MX5 to 15" (and losing about 2kg per wheel)...I could feel the difference. The MX5 is a very different car though - lighter, better balanced, more delicate touch required to drive it well...which I don't have.

That said...I haven't driven a car with Rotas and don't know how much they weigh. I'm using "our" wheels - the 15x6.5 on my MX5 weighs 5.5kg and the 16x7 on my Integra weighs 6kg...so they are reasonably light.

                  Thanks for that valuable response!

I am not that intuned with the car but I have driven my car with many different sets of wheels, including a set of tempe hectic wheels and the difference was quite noticeable.

If you look into the math behind it, even a total saving of 5kg in unsprung weight makes a big difference to braking/ride quality etc.

Obviously, we are comparing different wheel type with same tyres/wheel size.

That alone eliminates Rota's etc from my choice of wheels. This is for my Rx7 where I dont want to spend thousands of dollars to improve the performance of it for track etc.. only to put a set of heavy wheels on it and negate some of the performance added.

On a daily.. I wouldnt be as fussed.

i run 16in street rims @ 7kg + tyre and when i get to the track and put on my Racing Hart CP-035C (JDM Yo!) rims it is like night and day...

i can imagine that you could feel a rim weight reduction with a less stark contrast too...

Yeah...5kg on one corner is A LOT of weight!

I think in most cases though, we'd knock off 2-3kgs which is already considerable. Though I'm not sure I'd feel that difference. Of course if you went from 15" to 17-18"...you'd feel that!

In most cases though, you'd save weight (and money) just by using a smaller wheel. Of course, it's not fully-sick-hectic-brah...yo!

I think an interesting experiment would be to take a set of wheels that are 1-2kg heavier/lighter with the same tyres and compare lap times. I doubt if we'd consistently get .5sec improvement in laptimes with the lighter wheel.

I'm not intune with my car at all. I've done mods to the car, got it tuned, took it for a run and cant really tell a difference.

Even when I have a passenger with me, I can't feel a difference in the car with the added 60-70kgs. My lap times don't show a significant difference either.

Since everyone on the rota hate band wagon, i've used rota's on my evo without and issues (drag/track/skidpan). As for being 5kgs heavier, load of crap. There .5-1kg lighter then those jap brands.

I said 5kg all 4 corners, not per wheel.

                            a 17x9 CE28N is 6.7kg
                            a 17x9 Rota equiv is ~8.1kg.

this is actually true. they're the same weight and sometimes slightly lighter than the "real" version

                              except for Volks.

Grids weight a goof deal more than Te37s
