I had a quick read of that and I'd wonder how street-able a car like that would be.

I had a car that had the usual intake/exhaust/flywheel/cams/ECU work, next stage was port and polish. It was already getting quite annoying to drive in traffic (mind you, Singapore traffic) as there wasn't much low down, quite peaky, etc.

If you're trying to get a n/a 1.8 to work like a larger displacement engine, try and find someone who'll let you have a drive if their car in traffic first.

And you don't need big name brands all the time!

Yup! Easier, proven, and a better outcome.

I was at WTAC yesterday, and you look at these big budget, highly tuned cars having trouble...and BYP's little EG just churning out lap after lap.

Why do you want the quickest dc2r? And will it be built for circuit, or drag, or the streets?

Not one post I read about suspension/brakes/tyres. Power isn't even half of what you need to have the fastest DC2

                    Seat time actually.

I've had the pleasure of being hunted down by a racer in a Proton Saga (yup, laugh guys) at the Johor Circuit in Malaysia...let's leave it at that.

                      Finally!!!!! Lol :P

You need to focus on a lot more than the motor then mate. Is this still going to be a daily car for you? Can't remember reading that. If it is you should take careful notice of the parts you buy, so you make the right choices/compromises. That comment is less in regards to what motor you select and more directed at the rest of the car.

Sorry I forgot he said that, couldn't be bothered re reading the thread. If he's getting it ready for the track you can pretty much be sure it won't technically be road legal anyway.

OP, when you look into things like suspension, brakes, and other things that can have a large effect on your daily driving practicality and comfortability, make sure you do your research so you are happy with the end result at the track AND on a daily basis. Now your looking at tracking, I'd be going for a K24 so you have enough money left for the rest of the car.

Has this thread been made redundant due to the B18 Vs K20 thread?

                              not really redundant...

one major recent development was the information from the OP that he wants to go circuit driving and can't spell "brakes" properly...

Damien's Red Civic built by us (BYP) really shows how a well thought out and set-up car can be quick around the track. It has off the shelf item and OEM built motor put together by us has done over 500 laps.

Its a testiment to show the relability of the Honda K-series engines.

K-series is a better direction for powerplant. Spend the money once and dont look back. Over the years we have supplied and set-up Honda's and their lap times and results illustrate the potential of Honda's
