I would look around at other insurance companies and see what agreed value they would give you for your DC2R as a comparison. Give Shannons a call and see how you go since they cater for cars such as the DC2R which most insurance companies won't understand.

RACV doesn't cater for car enthusiasts, so it's better for you to get quotes from insurance companies that cater for niche models such as the DC2R, they'll more likely have a better understanding on how much the car is worth.

Did RACV explain why the agreed value for your DC2R halved in a space of 12 months?

all they said was that's how much they value the car for today

i asked how could a 12 year old car depreciate by $7k and they couldn't answer that

i think the guy i spoke to knows what my car is so thats why he suggested that i should shop around

nrma. they are bit pricey, but i havent heard them refuse business.

i know you can adjust the agreed value
you dont need to notify them of new mods
and they dont try to come up with bs reasons not to pay you out. (not speaking for myself, but parents both with nrma, never a drama with their accidents)

but then again, i do have it under parents name. i can only assume that if its under your name and your under 25, your going to cop it

sorry no nrma in vic, but someone told me that racv is nrma for vic, and from what you said it sounds awfully similar to racv

My DC2R with AAMI is covered for $12900 here in Sydney

                - I pay $1050 which covers full comp along with windscreen damage
                - Excess is $600 if I am at fault
                - If a driver under the age of 25 and a male/female is driving my car at the time of an accident the total excess will be $1300 + the standard excess or $600

                Hope this helped

                -Marcus

it clearly states on the website all drivers must be 25 years old and over.

but i will call them later just to get to the bottom of it
                  Yes, all under my name.

The guy i spoke to first of all got a list of every modification done to the car. Asked about car clubs and also track/driving training

I dont have the 'best' driving record, but i could prove that i have done advance driver training before.. The guy who was on the phone had to speak to his boss to see if they would approve me.
I didn't think they would as my brother had owned 6cars in the past and had a new SSV ute. He was 24 and the said no to him. He has NO traffic offences at all.

I was on hold for about 6mins and then was told to explain my traffic offence to him so he could document what happened. He then put me back on hold for another 2mins.

Came back and said sorry for making me wait but he had to get approval considering the circumstances.

Shannons turned out to be $200 cheaper than AAMI (who kept increasing the price with every little mod)

I also told them that i had 3 months till my current insurance runs out. They gave me a valid 1 year quote and told me they would send out some papers.

I got a phone call to ask if I was still keen on the quote and if they could do anything to help. I told them that I was defiantly going to go with them and was happy with the quote.
They guy on the phone then set it up to start when my current one ended and also gave me 1 month to make the first payment (pay by the month) as long as i dont make a claim before i had paid.

when it came time to insure my 2nd car, I was amazed with their service.
My Integra was long longer daily driver, so they dropped the price of insurance a lot & they added my EF8 as my daily but still made it one policy and gave me discount for having 2 cars.

I found them extremely helpful and passionate about their customers.

i've never done advance driver training before, would this be necessary?

i dont have many modifications but i might be tracking the car, probably won't tell them as they might not insure me

my driving history is 100% clean too

hmmmm need to call them asap on my RDO

Just bumping up a thread here. Do you have to be the OWNER of the car to insure the car under your own name? E.g. Insuring under parents name and listing yourself as a driver when the car is in your name? How does that work?
                                Wakefield: EG B18CR - R888 - 1.09.9
                                Eastern Creek: DC5R - RE001/ER300 - 2.00.8
                                Winton: DC5R - RE001 - 1.45.9
