I'll switch to shannons sooner or later. But right now I'm with AAMI.

    4 reasons:

    1. Shannons DONT do an agreed value. Only market value + mods.
    2. My father has been involved in classic cars all my life, untill about 5 years ago no drama, these days, a LOT refuse to pay.
    3. AAMI have the record for most paid out cases in QLD (or is it Aus?)
    4. AAMI dont care about mods at all. If I want them insured, they do, but If i just want the base car repaired, as long as the mods are legal, they dont NEED to know about them.

I don't know about this. I rang them today as my insurance was rolling over and even though the "agreed" value of my DC2R dropped to 18,000 from 20K, they were unable to move it back up as the car had minimal mods (Teins/JDM 16s). The guy mentioned that the usual figure for a DC2R was about 11K. The fact that they didn't totally kill my "agreed" value seems to indicate that they have room for movement.

Still a bit pissy about it though

not sure if its market value or agreed value, but they were happy to insure my car for $14,000 including mods (minimal mods)

no extra charges for paying monthly

your choice of repairer no questions asked (as long as the shop has an ABN obviously)

what more could you ask for

Incorrect sir. Mine is, they came out to my house to inspect the car as i had to justify my agreed value

They wouldn't do that for me - I wasn't impressed at all. Then again, it's hard to convince them that just because your car only has 40K on the clock, it should be well above market

call them up again and speak to someone else

they do agreed value all the time

if they arent convinced over the phone...they will send someone over who will assess it in person with you

and u can always pay a little extra on the premium to get a higher agreed value

Just wanted to add. Just went with NRMA. Found Just car is sh1T. Agreed value is 15500 for a 2001 dc2r. This includes any mods, And also covers any driver. And can get fixed at a choice of my smash repairer. Unlike Amy and All owned by them!

                  $130 a month

Did it online, Then clicked saved and rang them with the quote number of the net. The max for a 2001 Dc2R is 14500. I said thats to low and i at least want 16. We settled on 15500.

Unlike all other places. NRMA insure all stock parts and any mods. Any one can drive it with a license. And you can use any smash repairer.

Unlike just car. Used a radiator for a automatic from a gsi in my R. And went back to the smash repair they forced me to go to, on more then ten occasions. Car spent over 6 weeks there in total!!!

                              What insurer Michael?

Also updated the thread title since it's becoming more generic insurance advice, rather than about Igor's DC2R.
