I will call this cruise "the one that wasn't meant to be.."
I had a feeling that there would be a few dramas today and I was 50/50 about coming along on the cruise. Decided to man up and go to the last ClubITR event for the year. Picked up my cruise buddy at 5:30am then met up with a few (which later turned out to be almost everyone) of the guys who were going to the cruise at Cabra HJ's.
We all drove up to the meetup spot at Thornleigh McDonald's where Khuong was awaiting the rest of us. We all parked together and noticed that there was no-one else here, even though we arrived around 6:45am (expecting to leave at 7am). Unfortunately Simmy's friend was having problems with his car. NRMA was called to inspect the problem but the mechanic wasn't able to fix it. This meant that Simmy and his friend would have to sit out for the cruise as his friend's car had to be towed back home.
At this point in time we were all 50/50 about going ahead with the cruise. There was only the six of us, four cars and nobody knew the route! After much discussion we decided to go ahead with it as we came this far and had sacrificed sleep for this ! We all agreed on having lunch instead of breakfast! So after a couple quick glances at the GPS we headed off around 8am. It was my first time on old pac, and I know myself as well as the others would agree that it was quite fun . Had to stop around halfway as Khuong's car had overheated. After waiting 20 minutes we were good to go! We got lost a couple times, but we finally reached our destination.. The Entrance!
We strolled along the footpath together holding hands, enjoying the sea breeze. After chilling around for a while and browsing the various food/clothing/jewellery stalls, we had a great lunch at the cafe where we had planned to have breakfast at. After lunch we relaxed for a bit then decided it was time to head home. On the way home we had a few issues. My car started making some strange knocking sounds which will be checked out later. Khuong's car overheated again. We lost the cruise leader Nathan and instead of heading back down to Sydney, we were heading up to Newcastle. After a couple exits and turns we were finally on our way home! - without Nathan
After such an eventful day, I'm glad to be back home. It was unfortunate that some of the cars played up though. I'd like to thank Cuppa and Khuong for sticking it out and coming along for the cruise, and Nathan+Mrs for their excellent cruise leadership . Also thanks to Simmy and his friend for coming along. It was sad that they couldn't come along on the cruise, but there's always next time!
A bit disappointed at the turnout but oh well. Hopefully the next cruise will make up for this one! I took very few pictures with my phone which will be up soon
thanks again everyone
