Hello CITR members,
As easy as this DIY is and couple tutorials around on CLUBRSX thought i'd make one for Club ITR, so here we go. This also applied to EP3's as its quite similar.
Tools Needed :
Phillips head screw driver
10mm socket
12mm socket
Adjustable spanner/wrench.
Wiper blank plug/grommet CLICK HERE
Black silicone adhesive sealant (optional)
Estimated job time :
15 - 30 mins
So here we have the complete standard rear wiper
Remove cap and remove this nut, (12mm)
Remove this plastic cover by simply pulling off.
Remove this nut and thats done for the outside.
Remove the phillips head screw holding this down
Not pictured but also remove the single phillips head that is located inside the handle (where you pull the hatch down when closing)
Remove 2 side panels and main cover and should have something like this
unplug this and undo the 3 10mm bolts
Once thats done, simply remove the wiper motor and you will have something like this
Remove the top metal plate and the oem grommet
You will have a hole in your window!! Clean the surface for a good seal.
Plug in your wiper grommet/blank
Now with mine it fit well but I could easily pull it out with abit of twisting from the outside, so I got my self some of this (purchasable at your local supercheap)
Neatly seal the grommet from the inside, this will insure no leaking and a good fit. Like i said this step is optional but I do recommend this step.
Now before putting the plastics all on, close your boot, shoot water the grommet/blank and around it, make sure there is no leaks (give the sealant time to heal and bond)
once you are happy you can put everything back together and enjoy the end results of clean looking window/rear end!
So hopefully this was helpful to members. Quite easy job and pretty much the same principal applies to EP3's!
Wiper motor and arm weighed in at just over 1.2kg, easy weight save yo!
Thanks,
Phil
