re-building the R

hey guys, this has been a long time coming..........
after losing my job on friday 27th march 09 and it being my mrs b-day party that weekend, things were gonna get tuff and rough...........

to make things worse on wednesday 1st april 09, i was taking my lil bro to school and having some joke sms' thown around as it was april fools.................

unfortunatly for me there was no fooling around.............
i dont mean to be sexest, however some dumb female decided to change lanes on the freeway without looking and side swipe the passenger side of the R.....






and to top it all off she is uninsured...............

so after much arguing and lawyers i finally got paid out,

friday 7th august 09 brand new factory ITR rear pods arrived and fitted.........and scored myself a full re-spray.....




sunday 9th august 09, the striping started...........
rear pods without spoiler (the way it will stay for a while).......




then i moved to the interior................

and all the interior out.........................i think i might weigh it for fun and see what extra this car carries for no reason.........lol




tuesday 11th august 09, car gets dropped off at the panel and paint shop.....






and today saturday 22nd august 09, i decided to swing past the panel shop and see how its going......................to my disbelief, all the repairs are done, and the car was sitting in the booth awaiting paint......




and the rest of the parts including the repaired door.







just a side note, i was really contemplaiting a change in colour, and really thought hard about matte/satin black with yellow stock engine bay colour, however i thought hard about re-sale value and the extensive work that would be required to change the colour..................

great Write up, Sorry to hear about your highway dilema, atleast you got payed out, Will be keeping an eye on this thread for updates. Smart choice sticking with the phoenix yellow, to much effort involved in respraying & I personally think DC2's look best in their original factory colours!

Glad to hear it got sorted out man. A change of colour is a nice thought but when it comes down to it, i dont really recommend it unless it's a proper job. Besides, yellow dc2's are rare as!

i was thinking of US spec with different colour engine bay, however, the painter and my best mate, put it into perpective and said "arnt yellow itr's rare???" lol..........

its from a vtir.........i prefer it, as u can store more things.......lol....i also scored a mint condition vtir leather/vinyl lid from the wreckers the other day

today's update...............

swung past the panel shop to see if the car had been painted, ......


























unfortunatly it wasnt, however, as i walked in they where masking up my front bar (the black bit), and the car was fully masked in the booth ready for paint........

the painter showed me that the paint had arrived, he was waiting on a brand new gun he ordered, and thought he may as well break it in on a full re-spray.......hehehe
