          not better clearance, but for clearance, as the distance between the standard bonnet and radiator support is only mearly 20mm give or take.
          i have the spoon snorkel which is designed for the stock bonnet and i can tell u the clearance is very little.

          intakes such as mugen, Js etc, are designed to have a greater volume passing through that point, hence the bulge.

          although an option is to cut a portion of the hoods frame, but then the structural integrity will be compromised.
